ITS NOT EVEN A JOKE

It's gonna need a lot of maintenance.

How did this even come about?!?
>>340421379
To interested anons.
Practice on a hotdog first, otherwise you might rip your dick off.

What the fuck
time to cut my arm off
We always asked for this.
meme magic is real
I really don't get how the thing moves. Is it connected to the nerves or something like that? Do they explain it in the video?
>>340422246
Sensors placed on the skin, underneath a shell, that detect muscle impulses from wherever the arm was cut off
>>340422246
There's an augmentation you can take at lvl2 that can control it. They go over it in the video.

This I would go limbless rather than have a Razer limb. What a joke company who's target audience is literally the MLG crowd.

I dream of the day we get fully functional mechanical arms that are on the same level as natural limbs.being disabled sucks
I'd be cool with a limb like that if I didn't have to take tacro for the rest of my life just to avoid rejection of it.

This is actually really cool, aside from the fact that Razer is involved.
>>340421379

Did you type this with your dick?
A lot of today's technology was inspired by shit like star wars and star trek.

Into my cyberpunk folder it goes.

>still no cure for pattern baldness
>>340425392
>staying as a skinshit faggot
>not wanting to have enhanced strength, inability of gaining fat, feel no pain, cool A E S T H E T I C arm
They kind of touched on this in Dude Sex: Huge Man Revolution, but prosthetics don't have to be human
You could make your arm basically anything you wanted and have it be more useful than a human arm
The best part is that your brain would be ok with it, brain plasticity is an amazing thing
I read an article about phantom limb patients being asked to mime through doing a task with their phantom limb and when asked to do something physically impossible, their phantom limb changed, grew extra joints, etc, so they could accomplish it

>nanomachine augmentation
>enhances the body as it is without replacement
Maybe because upgrading a mechanical limb with nanoaugs is stupid
>>340428045
Prosthetic legs have allowed people to run faster since the 90s
There's already a muscle controlled prosthetic arm with a powered elbow joint and (simplistic) finger joints that can lift more than the average trained soldier is capable of.
There is also synthetic skin being developed to put over prosthetics and connected to the user's nerves that would allow them to feel touch.
>>340427324

You literally are this stupid? Its gaming site promoting a game via some idiotic prothesis scheme that has absolutely zero base on reality. There are no Deus Ex based prothesis and as for when we might have them, I don't know, there's a shitload of issues between marrying a living nerve to something non-organic. What at most we can do is to use the existing muscles and use their contractions to trigger whatever we want from the hand, and this apparently works as they brain is malleable enough to learn it so it doesn't feel completely awkward thing to do.

We have 100% artificial hearts keeping over 1000 people alive.
There's about 100 people using an eye implant that takes images sent from a camera in a pair of glasses and transmits it to the brain
We have mechanical leg prosthetics controlled by thought, and mechanical arm prosthetics controlled by remaining muscle

Technological and scientific progress tends to follow an 'S' pattern
So initial slow progress in the first leg
Then a sudden exponential burst after a major breakthrough occurs
Then a slow down as we reach the limits of optimization
Its hard to gauge progress right now because we're still in the first leg.
So at current pace, could be several decades. But you never know when a breakthrough will be around the corner.

We're a long fucking way away from prosthetics that are better than a human limb, let alone so much better that people would actually amputate totally working bodyparts to replace them with prosthetics. That's a huge threshold to climb over. Like, being merely twice as good wouldn't cut it. It would have to be a hundred times better than a human limb for humans to actually go and think "yeah, I won't need this stupid flesh thing ever again".

Honestly it's hard to say how fast shit like that can accelerate. If we decided we needed human augmentation, and we put enough money into it, for sure we could develop it in 20 years. It's just a matter of profit. Right now, it's not worth investing in, so it simply doesn't exist, but who knows, people might just decide soon that augmentations are the way to go.

In some ways no. There are certain key stopping points which we've been stuck in for decades, one of them being chemical batteries which we are still stuck with. Then there's superconductivity and other material physics issues, not to mention the whole fucking fusion debacle which hasn't progressed much at all. Maybe the only thing that we've not been stuck it seems is computing power which has helped a lot in other fields.

Actually, they have developed chips that can be implanted into the brain and the brain can "learn" to interface with them in order to remotely operate a computer.
In one of the tests a man used the chip to interface with a computer which was hooked up to the nervous system of his arm. He actually successfully controlled the movement of his arm, which was normally paralyzed by a spinal injury, through this system.
The brain is amazingly adaptive.

I've actually thought about this
Think about those super rich autistic furries who seemingly have endless income. Consider a level of tech like ghost in the shell. What's to stop these fuckers from getting something custom made like a gigantic dragon body?
I feel like the big things we need to solve are translating sense from electronic to nerve endings for the sake of proper control and sensation. And after that level of integration we're off to the fucking races with exploring what the human mind can adapt to. Can we figure out how to have more arms, for example? It doesn't seem entirely outlandish when you think about the really poorly mutated people from places like india who grow more arms naturally, for example.
So who's to say a person couldn't build and use a house sized dragon for a body and adapt to it perfectly.Or have a collection of bodies of different genders, sizes, and types

Problem is not what my AI will think of himself, the problem is the me right now. I couldn't give a shit about any AI based off me(which is probably why my AI won't give a shit about me either), I want the me right now to have a prolonged life, not my AI.

>>340438857
I considered this as a solution to the transfer problem as well. One cell at a time, replacing it with an electronic version of a brain cell that functions in the same way. Eventually you have a synthetic brain, but there is still only one you.

this is the worst. I'm actually considering children at this point so they get there. I'm 28 so I guess it's normal at this point.

We could probably get automatic doser implants so you can get like, a decade long thing that works over time with a billion failsafes to prevent overdosing, instead of having to get daily, weekly, or monthly doses however it works.
>Implying that current technology can make artificial limbs as versatile as a human hand.
They are still clunky and noisy as fuck niggers.

1. Energy storage is a bitch
2. If you remove a body part, phantom pain is a huge problem. Even if you did manage to remove it by having nerv connection, you would still get Phantom Pain for when you want to charge it
3. Nerves is a gigantic black box
4. Bodies ability to reject things is pretty insane, and a huge problem
>>340438857
At the point when your brain is replaced.
The problem here is that we don't know how consciousness works. If the nanomachines only replace the enclosure in which our consciousness resides, we'd be fine, but if our consciousness is perpetuated by those cells themselves it'd be no good. What I'm trying to get at is that if consciousness is along the lines of chi and is only transported through neurons, we'd be fine, as it could be moved. If consciousness is the neurons, however, it can't be moved unless you move the frontal and temporal lobes.
>>340439261
Why would there be brain damage if the entirety of the neural network of the brain was preserved when transitioning to the new "robot" material? Are you saying there's something special about brain matter that means it's the only thing from which a consciousness can spawn?

We don't have it that bad, no point thinking about technology that we don't even know if it will ever exist. I remember seeing some articles about how nanomachines were deemed a technological impossibility (and even if they existed it would be a huge waste to spread that technology across millions of tiny machines) so cheer up, not even your children will get it!

Not that guy, but yes there is. Neurons are among the only parts of the body that never get replaced. (And yes, that "all your cells get changed every 7 years" is just journalist science on par with "you only use 10% of your brain".)
That's why transferring your mind to a machine is a problem, you are literally those braincells from birth to death.

Things like this really makes me stop and marvel at just how amazing mankind truly is, or at least can be.
We're figuring out more and more about practically everything, and we're showing no signs of slowing down.
We're figuring out flaws in how we perceive things and then proceed to abuse said flaws to forcefully create the visuals we desire.
We're forcefully combining technology and biology and "fixing" damage that would be irreparable with conventional means.
Hell, we're constantly pushing the boundaries of what conventional means include!
It's inspiring, really.
I'm looking forward to seeing how we're going to improve moving forward.
