Isn't the whole point of the choice to represent some sort of character arc for Geralt? The pre-Witcher 1 book-Geralt was kind of a gruff, uncaring but competent guy, which fits really well with Yennefer's similar icy competence. After he (kinda) dies and wakes up with amnesia, he has the struggle of wondering who he is, compared to how he's described by his old friends. In the subsequent games, Geralt departs pretty seriously from book-Geralt, being more involved in events which don't concern him, and seems more accepting of doing good vs. what would benefit him. With Triss and Yen both available in Witcher 3, he has to choose between who he is now and who he used to be. Personally, I think the choice that makes more sense here is Triss: she represents the new Geralt who is less concerned with practicality and more about a sense of right and wrong. Seeing Yen again is the classic literary trope of someone indulging in their old ideals and in so doing realizing how they've changed over time. It ties up how the old Geralt really did die under the tree.
But Yen's also hotter and it's a role playing game so do whatever the fuck you want.

I based my choice based on as a single dad to a 3 year old.
