If you're going chikage/evelyn do a split with skill and bloodtinge up to 20, use whatever for +3, get rifle spear for +6, and run cainhurst as fast as you can to get the chikage. You can just summon for Logarius if you get there at a really low level, but if you've done it enough you can solo him at 40 pretty easy.
It's pretty normal until you get the chikage and evelyn, and you start pumping tinge up to 50. Then your just trading health for blood bullets and dropping loads of bone marrow ash into your evelyn to cheese the shit out of everything, and going in for quick chikage transform combos.
For the Bloodletter, same shit except strength, and you can get the cannon instead.

Only put in enough required str/skill for the weapons you want to use. I did 18 str for a fire stake driver, and 11 skill for a bolt saif. From there it's just putting the odd point here and there into vit/end and pumping fuckloads into arc.
The thing with arcane is that a lot of the strong tools scale better AFTER 50 points, so you can take that shit up to as high as you want, just pump the fuck out of it until you want to stop leveling.

The cane is fantastic. Great moveset, charge stab, transform has good range. You just can't go nuts with the whip form thinking it's going to stagger things, or doing whip R2's in bad situations.

You need to find and 'kill' all the head sack slimes and give their fluid to Adeline, then when she goes full head bag slime 'kill' her and feed her own fluid to her, you'll get the Milkweed rune which needs to be equipped to use the Kos Parasite.

Completing Adeline's quest unlocks the Milkweed rune, which turns you into an ayyy.
Beating the Orphan gets you the parasite. you need both to truly become one of the ayyys.

for adeline you have to talk to her several times, bringing the extract from the 2 flesh blob NPCs you find along the way through Maria's lab.
after she asks you for one, give it to her and spend some time killing stuff somewhere else, change areas to make the game keep loading stuff, then she'll eventually ask for another.
after you give the second and pass enough time, she will be by the door and ask for a final one. hit her and she herself will drop it, then give it back to her. then she will give you the covenant rune of the ayy. this will make the kos parasite stronger when tricking the weapon, just like the beast claw with the werewolf rune.

You can start the DLC from the Hunter's Dream (on the steps where you picked up your first weapon) anytime after Vicar Amelia. If you do NG, you'll have to wait until after Vicar to do the DLC. NG is basically you start the game over with all your levels, items, etc. and every enemy is stronger to compensate (that includes the DLC).

Bloodborne's DLC, like Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 is not an extra campaign, it's a new zone added to the game that you can reach via the use of a special item at a certain location. Think of it as an optional area. Your character carries over to the DLC because you're just traveling to a zone.
The DLC is balanced at around level 60-70. I was dumb and went in my first time at 30 (I thought since you got the Eye after Amelia that the DLC would be balanced at that level).

i used both the bowblade and chikage. sure the chikage does considerably more damage, but the bowblade is by no means a bad weapon. Plus what it lacks in damage it makes up for in fun to use, which is more important to me.
I just got a PS4 and decided to pick up Bloodborne, it's alright. It's not the best souls game, I'd argue it's better than 2 in some ways, but worse than everything else (barring Demon's Souls at the bottom, mainly due to jank in every which way and being the unpolished vidya it is. Still fun though.)
Also beat the big white dog girl, Vicar Amelia or something, boy was she unfun. I might be underleveled, but the fact that her attacks were too big to be dodged out of or into at times made it a clusterfuck. Also wish that I could rebind my jump, I need to be able to run and roll without having a jump with no iframes get into the mix, it's just a pain in the ass for boss runs.

we're talking about the quality of a series that relies on quick reflexes, to the point of counting invincibility frames. Demon's souls has terrible performance and unlike DS on PC, it doesn't have any way of getting better. it is, by merit of its exclusivity, permanently and objectively (by a strictly quantifiable level) WORSE than all the other souls games in the series.
it may not be worse in other terms like balancing, lore and whatever else, but on technical level it's impossible to argue otherwise.

there is no secret, just git gud with your endgame build, use light weapons on small targets, (and hope they stagger) large weapons against large targets (and hope they can break a leg), use the tactics you applied to the bosses that you've met previously during the story and summon NPCs as bait whenever possible
the defiled chalice will be the ultimate challenge, everything else is manageable with the usual deaths here and there. the keeper will test your greed, the hotdog will test your patience. for Amygdala you only need Simon's Bowblade.
Pthumeru Ihyll is a victory lap, don't worry about it.
