PC's advantage is that it has every multi-platform game look and perform better, with the added bonus of occasionally controlling better and never worse.
The exception is Batman: Arkham Knight.
Losing on exclusives is not unexpected, nor is it a big deal. Consoles are the ones that need to rely on exclusives. The PC version of XCom 2 continues to be the superior version.
With that said, I'm glad you guys are getting XCom 2 and I hope you enjoy it. Ignore the casual retards that say it's a bad game and git redy to git gud.

Consoles have input translators. They probably still have to be coded per game though, so that there's not always support unless the translator company develops it.
A game without an aiming system or any other analog stick function wouldn't have anything to translate though, so if XCOM is menu based? Also, the game functions best if it has a sensitivity option.
Playing without mods will genuinely be a worse experience though.
Not to mention high end PCs can barely run this shit, so it will be in minimum settings, at 30fps, 720p, no mods...

The only reason multiplats weren't as common was because console hardware was the wild west with vastly different types of CPU architecture and design. Porting games took effort and resources, which is why multiplats were occasionally completely different depending on what console you played them on. They had to utilize different effects as well, lighting, shadows, filters, sound, etc. all worked differently depending on the hardware.
Now every console is basically the same. There's no reason not to make a game multiplat since porting is so easy.

The 2nd reason is irrelevant now. 3rd, 4th and 5th gens would have been flooded with multiplats just like today if it weren't for the wide disparity in hardware design. Same reason there used to be a fuckload of different computer architectures and designs, now there's just x86, ARM and PowerPC, and x86 is still king outside of mobile. IBM compatibles/Wintel killed off every other type of computer except Apple and that was only for legal reasons. Now even Apple uses x86.

The truth is that if Microsoft or Sony wanted to market proprietary KB+M accessories, they could fairly easily, along with the software to accommodate, but they realize rhey would be instantly be creating a huge gap in skill of players if they did so. An i3 4130 and GTX 750 Ti ($300 worth of hardware) outperform a PS4 most of the time. You don't quite understand just how weak the consoles are this gen.
It's not like last gen where the PS3 cost over $800 to make and sold for a loss, or the 360 which cost $200 more to make than it sold for.

There isn't much more to take advantage of any longer, save for performance. Games are pretty much at their peak graphically. The only time it was very obvious that PCs were better was during the last generation when the consoles lost their "superiority" to PCs.
Of course if you go back in time you'll still find plenty of games that were much better graphically on PC compared to their console counterpart. I recently learned of a PC version of Toy Story 2 and had no idea of the graphical improvements.
