But that's the real dream of Ivalice: the existence of magic and a strong adventurer industry makes hard work more useful there than it is in reality, especially if you luck out enough to get your hands on some Anti-Law cards. Yeah there's still some shit about authority figures promoting their dumb friends, but it's less overwhelming than in reality. FFTA2 is mechanically better than A1, but the story is even worse.
And FFT is better than both in both respects, but its far less balanced. Feel free to use Cid in your first playthrough, but he's a crutch character just like Jeigans in Fire Emblem. And unlike Fire Emblem, there's no real EXP drop-off or implicit penalty for using veteran characters, so using Cid in your party is basically turning on easy mode for the rest of the game.

Escapism is bad because it exchanges actual achievement for shallow pleasures that don't even make you happier. Hard work and drudgery that is exalted in this kind of story isn't good or virtuous by itself, it is because it lets you achieve and grow as a person.
But the kids in Ivalice were actually happy. Their lives massively improved and they achieved. One became a king. Another became an adventurer. They weren't fucked over by the transition in the least. They weren't exactly couch potatoes fucking hologram waifus and being tube-fed cheetos, they had adventure, power and influence. And everything was pretty much real for them.
In the end, Remedi says that it was all an illusion, supposedly confirming Marche's fears. So what? It's an illusion so it's bad. Why? Because it's an illusion. That meant nothing. For everyone it was real and they were happy with it until Marche went around hitting people with swords and making them stop enjoying thing.
They could have handled it better by actually focusing on people whose lives were actually ruined by the transition, which was only really shown with the zombie bullies who actually fucking deserved that for once. But instead the moral was circular; what Marche believed was true because it was, end of.
