The game is weirdly devoid of music in many areas, so this battle music is easily the most repetitive track in the whole game. I guess it's only disappointing because JRPGs tend to have kickass music, especially for bosses, but Xenosaga 1 never switched it up until the final boss, which is many, many hours in. The rest of the game has really high fidelity too, I remember it having amazing graphics and animations for a PS2 game.
This doesn't have anything to do with the music, but it's also one of the only JRPGs where I quit and didn't beat for a long time because it's easy to completely fuck yourself over in terms of levelling if you didn't grind just right. I got to a point where I was so underlevelled regular mook mobs would 2-shot any given character in my party.

Investigation Opening of GK2 sounds anime as fuck.
Overall, I really like soundtrack of GK2 (especially at times when it sounds jazz-y), one of the best in Ace Attorney, but I completely see your point. It's like what, 3rd game Noriyuki Iwadare composed to Ace Attorney? No wonder it sounds samey.

I really like Noriyuki Iwadare and for great songs he created for the franchise, Bitter Sweet of Truth will never not give me shivers, but it's about time he let others to work on Ace Attorney's music.
Ace Attorney 6's soundtrack will be funky as fuck and I love how noticeably different it sounds not only from DD, but from other soundtracks in the franchise. Like, it has its style.
