I think the big problem will be the roster. Injustice and MKX both had really mediocre rosters because they don't listen to opinions of fans or keep track of character polls. It's a shame, really, but MKX had amazing gameplay and good stage design, so they've made progress in the other departments at least.

The mid range neutral game made no sense in Injustice. How the fuck were ppl suppose to play footsies when your walkspeed was so slow that it is was practically impossible to setup mind games with your spacing. That's why defensive chars and zoners ran that game.
I will give credit to Injustice for having a low execution barrier though. I hate burning large amounts of time in training mode and learning chars. In injustice all you had to do was invest 20 minutes and you were good to go, and MK9 was even less demanding than that. MKX kinda lost that aspect with the variation system and all those run cancel requirements though.
