I wonder if it would have turned out any better if they had gone with a full new cast for Versus and kept the focus on the original cast to the main series. It feels to me like all the fragmentation contributed to the loss of direction in the writing, as well as to the notion that the Versus series is a decisive upgrade to the main series. It may have been better to make the two more distinct from each other.

It's frustrating as hell to me because Burst wasn't even that good of a game, it just had nice enough gameplay and a decently executed shonenshit plot/characters. Which was just a nice surprise considering it was a rerelease of a launch window 3DS game that had the budget of a bag of peanuts. There's lots of room for improvement and they've flubbed most of it.

Looking at the original models, it really feels like they were made to look more like the characters down to their body shapes then. In the newer ones, they look like they're all based on the same frame, but with the size adjusted. I think I maxed Ikaruga too early. I played up to chapter 3 skipping the story and decided I should go back and view it, playing Ikaruga on hard difficulty.
Now I think I strip the girls too early so when I finish with a shinobi art, no strip of clothing gets ripped even when the animation happens and I rarely get past their underwear.
