Because it opens problems to them they didn't have before, since some people won't realize that the person who actually made the mod and who uploaded it are different people.
So when problems arise they contact the actual maker and start saying they're having problems when the mod maker is expecting them to be explaining issues for PC, which minor confusion is probably the least awful thing to come out of all it when realistically there's probably a ton of "you made your mod break my game!" and such.
Atop of that people typically don't like their work being uploaded to another place that they don't have control over meaning that even if they fixed the mod they wouldn't be able to disable the random account that uploaded their work

Because it's going to eventually be the only place you can sell mods. Why else would beth push their own platform? Why else would you have to sign in to use it? Why else would they try to force out 3rd party loading software?
