>>
So are they gonna add more creatures after release? The game needs more creature variety.
>>
>early access
>>
>No harpoons/spearguns
>>
Game is fucking shit.

It's basically a fucking walking simulator.

Boring fucking base building that's completely pointless.

Poor creature variety. And on top of that they thought it would be wise to cut a bunch of creatures like the rock puncher.

Removing terraforming for no reason what's so ever.

Tons of creatures are just scenery.
>>
>>340263161
Waiting for it to leave early access.

I had/have a fear of video game water, and I kind of want to torture myself/get over my fear. But.
You know.
EARLY. ACCESS.

Same thing preventing me from getting slime rancher.
>>
Are they gonna keep updating it after launch? Are they ever going to implement that Arctic biome?
>>
>>340264989
They talk about implementing stuff like the Rock Puncher even if it doesn't hit the final release date so I assume so.
>>
>>340265045
>rock puncher

It's not getting added though. It was cut.
>>
>>340265325
They said they were interested in re-adding it without terraforming elements.
It's not going to be as unique, but it might be added at some point.
>>
>>340265446
Nope.
>>
>>340265618
I see.
Then is the roadmap the only information we know about the future of the game?
>>
>>340264817
To you and all the others worried about it being early access. They've kept updating it consistently and the games really grown from the when I first bought it. That said, it's always possible for shit to go south. Personally I enjoy the game, though it gets tiresome restarting every couple of updates.
>>
Why is this game being shilled so hard right now? Did it get a major update?
>>
>>340266267
When the fuck are they adding the warper, rock puncher, sea dragon, exo-suit, lava zone and lost river?

They literally take like a year to release a single creature.
>>
>>340266712
half those are already in the game now
>>
Where the fuck is the cyclops propulsion systems. Is it not near the other two pieces by the crash/mushrooms?
>>
>>340266712
You can already use the exosuit mate. Experimental mode lets you fuck around with tons of stuff that's not fully implemented. They tend to do updates that are almost nonlinear in the nature mostly because certain things seem to be giving them trouble. I'm guessing mostly enemy AI tends to be it since they're trying to make them act like they're a part of the world.

I guess they were thinking about the number of people who would've a heartstroke if they added something too spoopy.
>>
>>340264557
they removed terraforming because it was broken and ruined a lot of gameplay. There are certain areas that are supposed to be unreachable until you have certain modifications for you submersible vehicles.

Removing this feature gave players a reason to go to certain areas and obtain materials needed to proceed to lower and lower depths, and being able to see more and more cool shit.

Also the game is not about killing everything that moves, its a simulation about surviving on an ocean planet and finding resources to ultimately allow the player to communicate with other people, whether it be the people who inhabited this planet prior to the aurora crashing, or to his or her people back on their home planet.

For many it's fear of the unknown, which is pretty common.

Though I will admit /v/ does seem to house a lot of people, myself included, who become nervous with deep water.

I haven't been able to go in a swimming pool for over a decade without getting anxious.

How are you even supposed to play something in VR with a mouse and keyboard or steam controller, that would be awful

>Also the game is not about killing everything that moves

And it doesn't have to be. The fact that you can build a gravity gun, a rifle that slows down chronon particles, a fucking fire knife, or even a nuclear reactor made out of common minerals, but a simple spear fishing gun with a tethered harpoon means you're suddenly John Rambo is outrageous.

It's all ocean, save for one part where you're exploring a floating island research base above sea level.

The only calm part about it is swimming around the crystal clear waters in the first area, where only gasopods and faggot exploding fish are a threat. The scenery gets surreal and beautiful as you explore, but it's down at deeper depths where organisms get bigger and uglier.

Have fun.

Can't say I like some of the creature designs in this game. Some of the animals in this look like Pokemon OCs, like stalkers and bonersharks. Reapers also look silly to the point where they don't even spook me.

Hopefully the sea dragons will ignite a primal fear once the update hits.
>>
>>340272618
I put about 25 or so hours into subnautica a few months ago, after getting a seamoth and cyclops I (think) I explored all the areas that were in at the time? I still couldn't get that instinctive sense of raw fear though, I was anxious, or worried about dying to some fuckers a few times. But I just really want it to scare me, it makes it so much more fun.

The cozy aspect though, that shit was just amazing, I think I might have to go back to just build a super nice surface base attached to one of the island things.

It was updated for years and then development was handed off to some community members who wanted to keep working on minor issues for free.

It was never popular though, which is a crying shame as aside from some performance issues and awful load times, it's easily the best MP FPS of the last decade.

My mistake then, I guess I read the description for the fins wrong. I did assume they'd simply, slowly auto-charge my equipable items as long as I was holding them in my inventory.

Have they given any word on the reasoning behind the airtank nerfs?

Yep.

Which is why if the tethers snap, stretch, or wind up, you haff problem. There's a big fat pipe running from the platform down to the ocean floor, and then into the oil well. If the platform on the end gets broken off then the pipe just spews oil everywhere as the pressurised underground oil tries to escape.

Hence, oil spills.

Towers are more immune to this than tethered platforms, but also more expensive (kind-of). And building towers at extreme depths is very, very challenging. Easier to lower some tethers and anchor them.

No, let's imagine something else. You know all the barnacles and shit that grow on those rigs' underwater parts? Those animals die eventually, like all animals, and the shells fall off and sink to the seafloor. If that rig is operating for 40 years, that's a lot of dead animals and a lot of sunken shells.

There are literal mountains of empty shells underneath oil rigs - sealife graveyards tens of metres high.

>they come across roughly 50+ T joints off to the side of the main pipeline just piled there
>the operators go on as if its nothing to look at
>Dad asks them what's with that
>Well, you see the schematics called for 63 T joints here, but we had no place to put them within the pipeline, so we just put them there in a pile.
>Dumbfounded, Dad goes on working up the hierarchy trying to find out how this happened. Ends up just being something that occurs on Indian rigs and pipelines, someone's brother of a brother padding their income with excess units that aren't needed and just end up littering the ocean floor.

In terms of spoopy deep sea Depth shits all over Subnautica without relying nonsense like fish that roar and scream at you or the lazy old unarmed player gimmick.

He has more or less inferred this. To work or even get onto an Indian Rig, you need to go through immigration to get into India, to do that you need to jump through so many hoops and ladders, pay bribes and so on, and then go through the same immigration to leave from India to the rig, running into the same people and having to have the same bribes payed once again to ensure everything goes well. That entire place is a mess.
