Dead Rising is one of my favorite games of all time. I honestly want a remake of it or at least a PC release but that won't happen.

For 4 I want

I like the idea of being able to assemble a better weapon out of items you find. But the way combo weapons materialized was that standard items in the game were less effective to fight zombies with; they do less damage, have less stopping power, break easier, and the game doesn't give you bonus XP for them most of the time.

That's not just Bats: Jars of Gems are some of my favorite items in DR1 for being a large cloud of an attack that was great just for clearing 10 feet in front of you... in DR2 and beyond they are replaced with jewelry that flops harmlessly against 2-4 zombies. That might be a two part problem, but I can't separate them in my mind.

Multiple game scenarios. Capcom has always been the king of Minigames in my mind. Yet somehow they can't seem to muster a competent attempt to stretch out their first real sandbox series life.

Throw in a Super Market Sweeps mode where you're running around with a shopping cart and trying to steal as much in converted value as you can.

Add a secondary set of missions with scoops characters changing their spawn points and times.

Introduce one of those challenge systems Capcom loves with their latest platformers and have an inane set of goals, like beating a playthrough of the game without killing a zombie.

Better Controls. I'd like a decent melee system, not just spamming the attack button and a decent shooting system.

Better AI for people you save.

Weapons degrade and break but instead of being gone you can keep and repair them if you want them.

If this game truly is a remake: Then Capcom's free to take any element they want from the source and make additions or alterations to it. Which Capcom has done in other remakes by adding different playable characters.

If it's not a remake: then there's no framework that's even in place to alter.

That works because there is at least an objective of survival.

When people want sandbox mode in DR they just want a freeroam to endlessly kill zombies and get bored of the game 45 minutes because they literally have access to everything available which at that point it makes you wonder why bother with DR instead of the millions of other zombie games that provide that.

Infinity mode technically wasn't infinite seeing as there was a limited supply of food and survivors and psychopaths stopped spawning after a certain point, preventing you from getting anymore food. Fixing those problems and making it into some sort of arcade mode to see how long you can survive would be pretty fun.

I took part in these infinity mode time crunches and I was like the 8th to get to 17 days.

I feel if there was endless amount of food via survivors to kill, that would get to the point that the high scorer would only be in the lead for as long as he wished to not die in order to record his time.

Because those whiners and their stupid ass complaints eventually ended up with the main gameplay mode being affected and balanced around a stress free no time mode. It's the exact reason why we got the turd that was DR3 with it's casual as fuck gameplay.

I don't mind it as an option that you have to unlock, I am more than fine with that, but we have seen that wasn't the case. The dev team listened to those complaints and decided to make the main gameplay mode appeal to those cunts. They then added a half assed time mode for us "hardcore DR fans :^ )"

I have to say I both disagree and agree with both of you.

I feel like Dead Rising has plenty of time to play around for anyone who just wants to have zombie killing time, within 72 hour mode. And that the only thing that really seems to bother people about doing that is the negative stimuli of not getting the best ending. I don't feel like the game needs a "Sandbox Mode" for people to play in it like a sandbox. I think players have to get comfortable with the format, and I think no matter what the method trying to acclimate towards that sabotages any chance of the 72 or however many hour mode feeling like it has real density.

At the same goddamn time every step Capcom/Bluecastle has taken to try to respond to these requests is clearly contradictory to what I've seen anyone really request. Dead Rising 2's story game has so much nothing in the extra days that really the only thing to do is dick around and kill zombies until the mission time matures. Off the Record's "Sandbox Mode" is a bunch of sequential minigames unlocked by escalating kills. While what I'd seen requested was to be able to freeze the clock, or have a game mode where time only advances on the completion of the main case files. Dead Rising 3 when I played it, didn't have a timefree mode. It just had a "half time" mode. Which I imagine would only have pissed off the people who wanted to set their own pace further because their game progression was forcibly slowed. If they're going to cave to these requests I'd think they'd be able to do it without so clearly butchering the game its designed to integrate into.

Keep it Frank. Didn't give any shits about getting the truth and the exclusive scoop on it. His look and attitude played perfectly into the ridiculous weapons and outfits he used and wore. Frank was a jackass, and he's perfect that way.

Change up the Combo Weapons a bit. Some had no reason to go beyond the Scratch Card, the Heavy Attack had no real reason to give more PP, or some weren't useful except for a weapon animation that took too long and got old quick. A lot were fine as is, but some like the Spiked Bat or the Super Massager were shite compared to a lot of the rest despite being the embodiment of Frank or Combo Weapons respectively.

Make guns more powerful but less common. Off the Record had every gun except the shotgun and sniper rifle feel and sound like weak peashooters that can were in every corner. Dead Rising 1 kept it nice with them sounding and feeling powerful, but weren't too common outside the gunstore even with security guard zombies all over the place.

Keep the PC port team competent. Dead Rising 2 OTR for PC makes the X360 look like Chop Till You Drop. DR3 on PC is inexcusable.

In any case, Frank is one of the few examples of a well done Neutral protag. Seeing him unused in a canon game except for Case West is criminal, especially since they pushed him to about age 50 with DR3's timeskip.

I still think guns were done BEST in DR1. The Shotgun broke a path wide while freeaiming and the autoaim worked on zombies except those construction ones.

Aiming at psychopaths was a bit better but the much weaker guns and the real uselessness of the strafing stopped shooting from being a primary combat method.

If they must include 4 player coop (as is rumoured) then the game needs to have an actual coop "mode" where more players = more challenge/slightly less time and FORCES you to split up to achieve certain goals. This would increase tension. If group #2 runs into a tough psychopath whilat group #1 are escorting survivors on the other side of town etc, I think that would add a nice dramatic dilemma.

Dead Rising's been having relay MCs since the first sequel, and Blue Castle has a lot of balls with character departure, turning Frank into a washed up pasty fratboy, Chuck into a psychopath and later criminal kingpin, and Isabela into a terrorist even worse than Carlito.

I wouldn't be at all shocked if this was a new guy named Bill who's a practicing Wicca and keeps a double tally of the of dead zombies to use as absorbed mana to cast spells which make up his resting moveset.

In DR1 you had to babysit the survivors. If you armed them they could take care of themselves, but if you ran too far ahead they'd chase after you and end up getting mauled. You had to move with them and help them.
In DR2 the survivors just run through the zombies as if they aren't there. There's a very low chance they'll get grappled.

In DR1, you're constantly looking at the clock. You need to go to X/Y/Z and haul all the survivors back to the base before A'oclock. You're low on time, but the Plaza is going to be a slow tromp with how chockers it always is. You might need to risk leading them through the convicts if you want to stay on time.
In DR2, the time limits are so lax and the survivors so easy to manage that the time aspect of the game may as well not exist.

Y'know I would like for that to kind of turn Dead Rising into a Home Alone simulator.

I would like to spill bottles of oil or muster and set marbles up in front of a display knife rack to get zombies to slip and impale themselves.

I'd like to have lures: Like the human hunk of meat but can be controlled remotely on a drone or maybe the same thing set up on a fishing line. Which you can use to lead zombies into punji traps or snares.

As for the game itself, I don't know. Hopefully, whoever it was telling Capcom Vancouver to get rid of the goofy, janky mechanics that made 1 and the 2 series great got fired or hanged or something. However, I also understand that that shit I liked from the pre-3 games doesn't translate to the mass-market (read: dipshit) audience Capcom sorely needs.

Well I guess I left out that my experience assumes that there happens to be this one monstrously overpowered projectile weapon that could work.

Setting the high score in DR1's Infinity Mode assumed you wouldn't take damage for the last 11 days. Not especially hard with the zombie walk and the Megabuster. Final place ranking was decided by whether the Randomizers that were part of the predetermined drops gave the Energizer effect and stopped your health depletion for 10 seconds.

They've walked right off the ledge that Dead Rising put between itself and Resident Evil. For all we know this'll have 3 more days after Frank and Isabella escape and take out Brock and his smart tank.

I am tempted to believe this just because that's what the reported leak says. And Blue Castle has proven to leak like... everything. They leaked that they got Dead Rising 2 what must have been the week they got the IP. They leaked Case West before Dead Rising 2 was out. They leaked Dead Rising 3 with conceptual details like 2 years before it was unveiled. They may have been the parties responsible for leaking the Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 if it wasn't Capcom Japan staff angry about MML3.

Saying MUH doesn't invalidate complaints. The tone of 3 was entirely different with the color being the most obvious contributor and made the game just more generic overall because of that.
