The mod is still alive though. In fact it had a great burst of new players after the new movie and the failure that was Battlefront 3.

You can't be serious. JA's system was way more fucked than JO because of the simplicity of only one saber. JA's double saber and saberstaff felt like a bad mod, and completely ruined serious dueling thanks to the fucked hitboxes of their spammable butterfly bullshit. KOTOR 2 isn't just the best star wars game but is probably the best entity in all of star wars itself. no other piece of fiction challenges the dominant narrative of "jedi = good, sith = bad" but kotor2 did. it questioned the purpose of the force itself, questioned that invisible will that guides the universe, questioned why we must succumb to it. it questions the role of the main character, asking whether they have not grown weaker by their experience rather than stronger.
separate from the theme, which makes it great by any standard, it features such a fantastic cast I love this game's characters more than I love any other characters from any other video game. Every character worked in a fantastic cohesion: the foreboding wise woman, the hilarious killer robot, the blind poet, the voice-of-morality soldier, the voice-of-anti-morality soldier, the Han Solo knockoff, the sissy dude, the badass karate chick, the badass karate chick's badass karate mother, the ultra-capitalist-rule-the-universe droid, the chick with the jugs, the bad guy made out of stone, the bad guy who never talked, and the main character too. they all are awesome and they all make this game awesome.
