Has anyone tried the Gear VR? Is it any good? I know it's obviously not as good as the PC headsets, but is it worth the way lower price?
oh man you have no idea, guy!
>>340230662
I enjoyed it.
You might be able to mod additional uses out of it.
>>340230662
The price isn't "way lower" unless you already have the cell phone that goes in it.
it's pretty sweet, been using it with trinus vr and riftcat to play vive/oculus and normal games..
It's alright. Many of the games are shovel ware right now although there are some gems. You can download custom apks through sideload vr and there's an app for Google cardboard apps as well. Good intro into vr if you already have a Samsung phone, although I wouldn't buy a new s7 just for the gear unless you were already planning too.

I was already planning to, since I'm upgrading phones in a couple months, so that kinda works out for me, actually
>>340230662
Pron is great, but if you want games go for one of the PC headsets or wait for PSVR.
>>340230662
Not really, unless you already have a compatible phone. All the porn games can only be played on the PC headsets and that's all VR is good for right now 2bh senpai
>>340232079
I'd wait for PSVR but I don't even have a PS4 yet
I really just want fun experiences and fancy pretty stuff I can fall asleep to
>>340231394
wait, how?
HOW?
Why are there so many fucking VR's now, people so greedy that they split the community just to make some more money, holy fuck.
>>340231394
this.
feels good man
>that hack that let's you usethe camera for some halfass AR
>>340232236
you can pair your phone up with your computer via wi fi to stream pc games to your phone (with gyroscopic motion )
>Trinus VR
streams pretty much any game, although they won't really be that optimised.
>Riftcat
Allows you to play Vive and Oculus games.
E.g - Virtual Desktop

You can probably fall asleep to the visualizers with ambient music, but it's hard to sleep while your forehead's getting broiled by the heat of the phone.
>>340231930
If you're already set on a Samsung device then yeah I'd recommend it, definitely the king of low end vr right now.
>>340232486
right on, my dude.
You are all memes falling for memes.
I've been red pilled.

>3D 24" monitor less than 200 bucks
>4" 3D monitor that straps on to your head: 600~800 bucks
Most vr is compatible with Google cardboard and steam, Occulus a shit but there are ways around the limitations . PSVR will probably have exclusives as well which sucks but there are rumors that it will be compatible with PC which would be nice. Xbone vr is based off of Occulus so it has all the positives and negatives of that.

3D and VR aren't the same thing
The 3DS had a 3D screen 5 years ago and nobody uses it

Honestly, yea I think it's worth it. Especially if you are a bit skeptical about VR.
Even if I had the money I don't think I would bother with the full room VR setup bullshit it seems like too much hassle.
The gear is fun though ama
>>340233994
Oh but I'll add o my if you already have a compatible phone. If you don't happen to have a phone then don't buy a phone just for this you will probably regret that..
Wait for that new one Google is making to come out in a few months.
>>340233564
He's right though.

Has any new information about google daydream come out? I can't upgrade until August, but it'd be nice to know something about that more than just "it's like google cardboard but not shit" and "existing phones won't be compatible because they'd be shit at it"
