One of the best characters in the game if your team isn't stupid. The worst part about her is the reliance of using teammates who aren't cowards and understand what it means when their screen turns purple. Get a good Lucio who likes to be offensive and you can rape practically any team.

The short duration of her skills makes her that character that has a high skill cap. You really need to be that guy who has the reaction of a hawk so you can dish out shields at the right moment and be that guy who knows how to survive in the middle of a firefight.

If you get her shield, attack and shield recharge rhythm down she is utterly god tier and her 100% laser charge turns her into the highest DPS in the game. She is the best off tank in the game bare non and is great as a kind of team commander giving shields to people who need it and pushing up on people when she sees an opening.

I don't even play either of the characters, but if you've really not see the difference between a shitty tracer/genji and a good tracer/genji then i don't know what to tell you, because the difference is night and day. The difference between a good and bad hanzo or soldier or any other character is pretty minimal, but tracer and genji is a huge difference. They're either really good and wreck the other team, or they're just dead weight.
I shouldn't be surprised that you think utilizing blink and rewind is easy though, i mean most people on /v/ also actually think mccree is OP. Most of you are pretty awful at this game.

But strange enough, and I wonder if others are with me on this, but her pink fingernails actually get to me the most. I'm not sure why, but they quite annoy me so.

I enjoy playing her but trying to deploy a shield on a teammate seems especially finicky sometimes.
I'll look at a teammate and tap E only to realize that it didn't deploy. Whereas with Zenyatta I just have to look in the vicinity of a teammate or enemy to deploy an orb while with Zarya it's almost like it demands me to look directly at a teammate even tho the 'E' prompt is visible.
That, and when I go to deploy it on the character I want, it switches at the last second and I end up shielding someone who isn't under fire.

She's my most played. She's hard but very rewarding to use. Her shields are fantastic but require a lot of coordination to use and the long cool downs means you suffer a lot mistiming then. They have a lot of application though like allowing her to shut down alts, give characters like Genji, McCree and 76 impunity during theirs and allowing her to counter annoying characters like Mei and McCree. Her own ult, while not amazing on its own, can be coordinated well with pretty much any other offense hero for easy, gaming winning team wipes. All in all a very solid tanks that I think could honestly benefit from a slightly shorter cool down on the projected barrier and a better design.

Zarya is probably my least played character. Her ultimate is extremely fun to use, but i don't like the fact that she has to build up her damage from shields in order to be effective.
God I love playing as her but she would look SO MUCH BETTER if they just changed her hair colour to something more natural. They literally only need to change the hair colour and she'd be perfect.

Use shields reactively not proactively.
You can pretty much solo anyone in the game with a well timed shield. (Yes even McCreasy's free kill grenade). Because shields prevent all forms of control loss.
Use shields to get scrubs out of Mei ult.
Use shields to block Junkrat ult (They do 200 damage but if the damage breaks the shield it absorbs the rest of it).
Use shields to enable your offensive sneak dick monkeys.
Use shields to protect squishy whiner healer scrub that you don't really need because you regenerate.
Use Arctic or Siberian Front Skin to get away from shit tier SJW pandering.
Team shit? Doesn't matter you can probably 1v6 with a good ult.

See there you are assuming again that Zarya is somehow now Reinhardt and can preemptively block shots for their team. The real problem here is that Blizzard has arbitrarily defined roles for characters. Much as Symmetra isn't really a support Zarya isn't really a tank. But unlike Symmetra, which can reliably be defined as Defense, Zarya really has no other role that decently defines them. They have the lowest amount of health of all the tanks, of which isn't even armor, they're the smallest tank (which is actually good because most of the time you don't want to be getting shot), and all of their defensive abilities are reactive instead of proactive which makes them pretty terrible at reliably defending squishy targets from threats that are not telegraphed. At best they could be labeled a semi-tank but it's unlikely that Blizzard is going to go beyond their 4 role formula.

Well, her design was born from criticism from SJWs for not having enough body and gender diversity. Which personally, I think is fair enough in a cartoony game with a large cast of characters. I personally like her default design, but the pink hair really clashes with most palette swaps, so I think it was a missed opportunity to not have it at least changed in the Epic skins. I don't like Zarya, I feel like her kit needs to be changed.
Don't get me wrong, I'm really good at playing her and she's really powerful, but she's just so boring. She's tied with the likes of Zenyatta as being the least mobile character in the game, so her gameplay is limited exclusively to walking towards enemies and then timing your shield as they attack you. Her gameplay is entirely linear.
She hard-counters cancer like McCree, negating the stun and fan the hammer with her shield and then zapping to death with 50+ charge, but that's completely what her gameplay amounts to. Her only "flashy play" is ulting the entire enemy team. Good job, you pressed Q...
It's bullshit that you're obligated to play Zarya when the enemy team has a McCree and McCree has much more varied and fun gameplay compared to her. McCree has a long range game with across the map revolver headshots and the short-range fan the hammer game and using the roll to either dodge attacks or dash forward to reload and kill another enemy right after killing somebody.

you're a tank, a damage dealer and a support. She should come with ally health bars on by default really. You not only need to be able to aim the primary fire but you need situational awareness of what both sides are doing. Anybody can walk forward with the shield up and mash her alt fire but the actually good Zaryas just dominate. Also her counter Reinhardt doesn't even kill her, he's just annoying. So I end up playing her quite often just because she's good in most teams.
Breaking yourself and others out of freeze and lasering Genji through reflect is also consistently the most fun I have in this game.
