Anyone else getting really strong cult-vibes from the whole star citizen thing? Just something about the way they speak, the atmosphere of all their "community videos", the way their pledge system is set up, the culture of it all, it just feels really... strange and not similar at all to any other game developer I've ever seen. It's like a doomsday cult where everyone is waiting for the world to end, but instead of a doomsday scenario that never happens, it's a game that never comes out.

They're not selling a game anymore they're selling the promise of an escape from this world to a better one where their "small" financial investments will translate into infinite joy. Totally a cult.

Chris Roberts sank his own space franchises over 15 years ago. He butchered Wing Commander, botched the film so bad even hard-core Wing Commander fans who played every game had no idea what was going on. Why, after many years of doing NOTHING related to games whatsoever, anyone would trust this hack-fraud (and I use this in the very real definition of the words) to make a new game is beyond me.
