You're a totally average soldier who is training and is one of many to be sent out within the month for battle. Hellfire rains from above killing almost all everyone. You don't know what the fuck happened but some kids with belts all over them came by and check out the situation momentarily, but didn't really bother to help you.

You set out to see what the fuck is going on, and coincidentally are time and again either right behind or right in front of the real protagonist's JRPG party.

E.G. You help a town with a bandit problem, and in return they help open a cave route for you to get to your next destination (which ends up being just another cave the protagonist goes through without a second thought). Or you walk through forests with dozens of slaughtered ninjas and wolves, killed by the protag's party in their random encounters and left to rot.

One day, the castle of anonburg was enjoying life casually.

WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, ALIENS ATTACK.

At the mercy of the alien's superior technology, the fantasy kingdom turned to the mystic relic said to have been left behind by their God; The Sacred Blue.

The sacred blue granted the kingdom magic, and with their newfound power they ripped through the alien's defenses, and sent them packing

Now 100 years have passed since that fateful battle. The kingdom has grown with alien tech and magic, and everything seems to be peaceful...

You live in a pseudo-fantasy world on the cusp of an industrial revolution. Through advents in communication magic and technology the world is more connected than ever, and the heroes of old have been replaced by "guilds" of adventurers who function like a cross between movie stars and professional athletes, who make spectacles and shows of their heroic exploits.

You are a country bumpkin who grew up admiring these guilds and wishing to join one, but lacking the clout to join any of them, as most have become very elitist affairs that won't take anyone who doesn't have money or some influential connections.

But when you save the life of a traveling elf merchant passing through your town from bandits, the somewhat shifty man offers you a deal: he is starting his own guild, and wants you to lead the adventurers he intends to recruit.

You then are whisked away from your humble life on the adventure of a lifetime, recruiting dozens of various JRPG character archetypes with a tweest to recruit and take on your adventures, trying to save the day in the most exciting way possible and getting the public to adore you for it. This would be reflected in the game's mechanics where you seek not just to defeat enemies but to do it in flashy ways, such as pulling off combos with party members, using exhilarating finishing moves or using environmental hazards to creatively wipe out your enemies. As you grow in renown you gain access to more dangerous dungeons, more important and influential questgivers, and of course better loot and gifts from your adoring public. But the established guilds don't take kindly to upstarts, and you'll have to compete head-to-head with the world's best if you intend to survive in the field for long.

The game starts with you living army life in a medieval-esque setting. As it goes on it's uncovered that the protagonist is a member of royalty from a small kingdom that was destroyed in a massive power struggle between neighboring superpowers. Things quickly turn from bad to worse as another massive war breaks out and it presents him with a once in a lifetime opportunity - a shot at revenge against those that massacred his family, friends and split lands that are rightfully his between themselves. The catch is that the game should have a great number of endings that depend on how you act and they should include

>Maximum revenge, drive the known world to complete and utter chaos by fueling the flames of war and have everyone feel your pain as everything descends into anarchy, would involve betraying your party or using them as fodder
>Some revenge - take out the fellows responsible for your situation and reclaim your birthright, from there you can conquer the world if you've got the guts and power to do it
>Revenge but no reclamation
>Peacefully settle down with the party member waifu of your choosing
>Just keep on soldiering
>Act like a full retard flaunting that you're former royalty and get beaten to death by disgruntled soldiers

It's not you, of course, but he says you have the ability to find them. Problems arise when you start seeing the mark of the Chosen One on everybody you meet. Heroes, villains, and nameless background characters can all become the chosen one with just a few words from you, but you only get to choose once.

Do you pick an early-game character you like or do you wait until the game gets harder before choosing? Perhaps you're hardcore and can try to clear the game without ever choosing anybody. No matter what, the choice is yours.

You are blind, and get lost and stumble your way outside the village limits. Like some shitty comedy movie, the combat centers on contrived accidents that coincidentally work as attacks. Things such as accidentally stepping on a sleeping dog's tail and causing it to attack nearby monsters, shouting "HELLOOOO?" in a mountainous area to cause an avalanche that buries the other side of the field, ducking when a monster is about to throw a punch at you that causes it to hit one of its allies on accident, and so on. The hero doesn't even know he's on an adventure the whole time, and whenever he gets attacked, he just thinks he walked into a bramble patch or a wall or something.

He could be incredibly dumb, yeah. Maybe he'd have enough awareness to realize that
>there are monsters outside town
>I'm getting bitten by something
>this must be a monster and I must continue to find my way home!

but I kinda like the idea of him having literally no idea that anything's even amiss. Maybe he's an old senile blind guy.

I could also see him accidentally getting wrapped up in a big cliche JRPG plot without realizing it, and the player witnesses cutaway cutscenes to other folks in the game who discuss things that become relevant.

>"We must find the ancient sword of ultimate power, for it is the only tool that can save our village from its plight!"
>meanwhile, "Oh, what's this? Is this my walking cane that I dropped?"

Being blind is no fun. I'd prefer if the MC is just old, near sighted and can't hear well. Then he goes through all those situations. In the end it's revealed this guy is actually the retired protag of the previous game. Which is why he survives bandits and monsters etc. while making a total comedy of them beating them in silly ways.

You are a young prince, the second son of King Whatshisname of Wherever. After years of war it seems like your homeland and this other kingdom next to it are finally going to achieve peace through mutual agreement. Your brother, who has been an active commander for a few years has now returned, covered in the glory of war, battles, and victory.

Since you will no longer be part of war in your lifetime, you won't share this glory and, foolishly, you decide to go on a journey to the northern lands in order to find and slay a legendary beast that has killed hundreds of men.

In the company of your noble friends you reach out for adventure, treasures and glory. However, since you are an unexperienced spoiled prince and the northern lands are brutal, things quickly go to shit and you must fight for your life to get back home. That's just the beggining.

What about the possibility of a negative chosen one? Not a chosen one who will be a savior, but kind of an Antichrist deal. The game begins with your exile as you desperately try to prove to your once-beloved townsfolk that you would never cause disaster to your people. In a self-fulfilling prophecy, the MC grows bitter from his exile and decides to give the people that betrayed him the very disaster that they were expecting out of him. That story would probably make >>340226683 happy.

I actually wrote a pretty neat story for a game I was making in RPG maker. But after writing the story and planning out the world map, I realized I had no artistic ability and couldn't design aesthetically pleasing nor natural looking areas worth a damn. After redesigning the starting town like two dozen times and each revision looking like shit, I scrapped the whole project.

It's a shame because I think the story I had was pretty good. Basically the main character was a spellbreaker working for the emperor, in a society where magic had been outlawed due to atrocities committed by a powerful sorcerer a couple of decades ago. The local alchemist had created a bunch of soulless puppet children with intent to one day bind the soul of the aforementioned sorcerer to one of their empty vessel bodies. One of the puppets (who'd always had a creepy interest in the arcane growing up) realizes what he is and confronts the alchemist. Wanting the power he could potentially harness all to himself and not wanting to be used, he murders the alchemist, the other puppets, and the spellbreaker who originally defeated the evil sorcerer (whom he sees as a threat). This kicks off the plot.

So the hometown wasn't going to be attacked, exactly, but the legendary spellbreaker (who had become a depressed alcoholic) being murdered kicks up a fuss and you're sent to bring his murderer in.

The puppet eventually does absorb the evil sorcerer's soul, and standard spellbreaking techniques are not sufficient to nullify his magic. The main character goes down a pretty dark path, committing increasingly questionable atrocities with an "ends justify the means" outlook in order to gain the power necessary to stop the puppet. For example, you slay a benevolent dragon to use its blood to heighten your magic immunity. The ritual to seal away the sorcerer's soul requires the use of two innocent "lock and key" souls. He eventually turns into a depressed alcoholic as a result. Like pottery.

I know this feel. Even if there are games that start out like this, they pretty much end up with the heroes getting tangled up in a real plot before long.

Actually, add some pirate thematics to this idea and you've got yourself a great game. Just a rowdy band of jolly thieves who've decided to live life on the open seas, and eke out a living by stopping at port towns and stealing food from local stalls when nobody's looking, scamming people out of money with little gambling games and such. As the game continues, your band of thieves grows bigger and you start performing bigger and bigger heists. There's no big bombastic narrative ending or anything, just a final challenge of robbing some rich king or something.

That would actually be a really good concept for a game, as long as you are given ample tools to combat enemies even as you are weaker than them, so even if you are weaker, if you employ the proper skills you can win by the skin of your teeth.

Also maybe some kind of mechanic where you can pay exp or levels to get an advantage with something, so you can risk throwing exp and levels away to help yourself out some other way.

And you have the choice of releasing the princess from her curse (which would make the knight happy but you sad) or just killing the princess instead of lifting the curse, capture the now lv 1 knight and try to corrupt and seduce him into loving you?

If you want, this could involve tons of reverse rape and hate fucking.

Plus you might need to grind for gold to buy items you'll need to make up for losing levels. Potions heal a fixed number, so become more useful the lower your max HP is. Maybe some sort of respec ritual available at some towns that sacrifices lvl for skillpoints to keep techniques learned.

Grunts have little impact on level, so you could grind until you are 1xp away from deleveling and use the respec ritual. However, the lower your level, the more EXP you gain/lose from bosses.

I guess you stop leeching levels when you both reach level 50, so you're both on equal footing.

I have amnesia/false memories.
>>
>>340222295
It has been your life's dream to grow up and become a great soldier like your father before you. You set out on your journey to prove you have what it takes to join the ranks of your homelands army and take part in its quest to expand its borders beyond the wild, where monsters prey on any who venture too far from the comfort of the city gates. However, the dark powers that hold dominion in the wild do not intend to give up what is theirs without a fight...

It could be explained by the princess monster simply laughing at you and not even trying to kill you as you desperately strike at her, not realizing you are draining her levels until she hits level 70, at which point your own level is at enough that you have some leeway to survive her attacks.
>>
>>340233093
>This could be interesting, although I wonder how you're supposed to not die instantly against a lv 100 boss when you're lv 1?
Strategy. So when she unleashes her overpowered summon attack that does 20,000 damage, you still survive it wit your tiny amount of HP because you have a skill or a spell that lets you survive any attack with 1 HP. This gives you a chance to cast barriers that change the % damage you take, or cast reflections, etc.

Or maybe the ending sequence makes you use all those items in your inventory you saved "for later."

Play with those cliches.

>Your hometown gets attacked, but the villain doesn't want to hurt innocent people and is only doing it to deter your onslaught against him
>Your family members get kidnapped and instantly executed before you can act
>You find a mystical weapon, but nobody can figure out how it works, and when it does, it slowly kills you
>You raid a city, ruining thousands of lives, forcing people to evacuate their homes, slaughtering innocents and guards just doing their jobs
>>
>>340233320
>You're not the chosen hero, you are a loser. You must travel the kingdom, fighting enemies and bosses, and always losing. You must not win. But through your losses, the world becomes better each time.

Oh? I can imagine it already.

>You are the Brotagonist, on a quest with your bros to find the Holy Grail
>The Holy Grail is a cup that never runs out of beer
>The entire game is filled with Bro puns and pokes fun at JRPG tropes and frat culture

Example:
The Brotagonist distracts a hamplanet vegan by Broiling Broccoli and using it to distract her.

The Broccoli has a little hat and sunglasses, because it is a bro too.

The Protagonist gets cursed early on with future sight after saving a spirit they mistakenly thought was in trouble of being killed by GENERIC EVIL ARMY FACTION. They see a lot of things in the future, bad things, but you ignore them because you thought it was just some weird trickery until you hear later on from some villagers that x bad thing did happen in a nearby town.
Starting to realize that the curse might be more than just a spirits trickery you go to investigate.
Then it'd just go from there mostly as your generic JRPG of making friends, fighting things and trying to stop the bad things you keep seeing. At some point its revealed that one of your allies is the spirit that cursed you and, on top of that, they're the cause of the bad happenings. After meeting them at the first town you explore you've been unwittingly taking them to each place a shitty thing happens at.

it's not great and it's mostly based off one of my characters RP backstories and a buncha Xenoblade Chronicles themes but i think future sight is a super cool thing to be "cursed" with.

In a far off galaxy an evil alien force is at work. The evil tyrant, greedy, has corrupted the planet leaders and enslaved the populace. Even the legendary hero has been captured.

A desperate plea for help is made; and answered by the hero's own son.

You're dead and in purgatory. You left your only son on Earth. God offers you a deal to become one of his horseman to defeat some demons created from humanity's sins and in return, he gives your son a good life.

Plot Twist: You've been fighting to keep your son from sinning, effectively making you his guardian angel.

When I was a kid I started making a game with rpg maker about my pet rabbit escaping my back yard and ended up in some animal land or some shit. The quest was to get back home and party members were my previous pets

Maybe she's busy wasting the royal court full of high level adventurers and mages? The knight would be a trashmob not worth the effort to squish.

Your first hit takes 1/10000th of a level, so you need to use bombs and daggers to take 1/25th instead. After you drop her level and gain a bit of power, you take a bigger chunk of EXP like some clicker game. When you get big enough to take 1 level per hit, then she notices(probably killed all the court adventurers and your levelstealing buff has disappeared too)

lvl 30 vs lvl 70 sounds like a good endgame position.

>You're bored and want an adventure.

>You are a prostitute
>You get pregnant and your child is ordained to be the chosen one
>You must reach the main church before you give birth so your child can be baptized and get holy powers
>Bad guys keep trying to assassinate you to ruin the prophecy
>You must use your slutty prostitute skills and cunning to reach the church
>You have no combat ability and must recruit members into your party
>You can seduce them to join you, earn money from prostituting to pay them to join you or convince them through other methods (like sleeping with them and then blackmailing them afterwards)

Your hometown is kidnapped by a mystical weapon so you raid a family member for information and promptly attack them.

You gotta stop using the term "future sight." It's "prescience."

You're accidentally transported to a training camp for magical girls with a matriarch that hates men and will either kill you or turn you into a small woodland creature if found out. You have one month before you can escape the camp and you disguise yourself as one of the trainees. You have some allies that help you keep your secret each with their own agendas and goals in helping you. They join you on monster fighting expeditions all the while you make choices to either gain power while making you more magical girlish or resist power to keep your manhood at the cost of making the game harder.

>The final boss is a demon urging your son to kill them man who murdered you
>The demon loses or strengthens his grip on your son depending on who is winning the fight.
>Your son's emotional state changes depending on that as well
I'd buy it anon

As a god cast down from the heavens, you must claw your way back up before your godhood wears off, and you become mortal.

Ganeplay is action RPG akin to Dragons Dogma. Game goes through reverse leveling; you start off the strongest you can ever be statswise, and gain followers who were once gods but are slowly becoming mortal.

As you progress through the game, you and your party get weaker and the game gets harder as your godhood starts to wear off. You start relying on your wits, strategy, your followers, and your gear in order to ascend to the Heavens and reclaim your place in the pantheon.

But can he break dance?
>>
Easy.
The protagonist gets lost, everyone that joins the party is also lost, you find out you're in a strange alternate world filled with lost things.
You have to start fighting off the world's lost species, dinosaurs, unicorns etc.
There isn't really an ending but after everything is safer you and the party say "fuck it, let's build a house" at the game ends.

While going to the market to buy neet fuel you see a man in the alley raping you. You try to stop him, but he is too strong and you die of burned asshole, he now looks aty you ready to rape your virgin asshole, when you come out of nowhere with a huge ass sword and try to kill hi m. You tell you to run while you hold him down.
You arrive at home and masturbates to the thought of you getting raped by that guy.

Someone is knocking on the door, you open it and it's you again, you explain to you that the guy from the alley has the task of raping you in all possible dimensions and you know have to go in a journey dealing with all kinds of rapists to learn how to deal with the dude from the alley.

>You are the blacksmith's apprentice
>The blacksmith is creating the only weapon capable of slaying the demon king
>He just needs some holy water to anoint the blade and sends you off to get some
>When you get to the church, the priest says he doesn't have any sacred oils to create holy water
>So you have to go into town to get the priest some oil...

Basically the entire thing is a giant trading fetch quest. By the time you're at the end of the game you're inside the demon king's castle and stabbing him to get some of his blood so you can complete the fetch quest chain to get the sword so you can stab him some more.

Okay! How about this?
>you're on your way to raid the city of a kingdom that attacked your hometown with the key advantage of an mystical weapon being on your side when you find out that your mom was kidnapped!
Oh and the best part: Your mom was the ancient evil that just woke up
