This is what makes it complex. Complex games do not need to be hard; they just need lots of varying features.
I don't think even DF is particularly hard (unless you make it). You can settle in a peaceful area, and slowly build your fortress without any problems. Yet, I would call DF "complex," because it obviously has a lot of features.
