Such as? I recently replayed all the 3D era games too, and all I can think of is bikes and bailing out of vehicles. Personally I prefer the setting, the city, the general atmosphere, the music, the simpler story, the silet protagonist, the gangs and gang cars, rewards for secondary missions/collectables and being able to shoot while moving of III.

Forcing the player to buy all the assets meant that they had to actually engage in the open world in order to raise cash to buy them.
