The original Unreal is very under-appreciated so far as I can tell. They're entirely different things. WoG is like a bunch of tools at your disposal and you need to sit down and read what particular option does and either enable or disable it. It can be a mess if you don't know what you want out of this mod and just enable everything on.
As I said, HoTA is like an expansion pack released for HoM&M3. It's also pretty balanced. They tweaked Inferno for instance so it isn't as useless as it was before.

Amiga master race here. Loved the sequel, first one was kind of meh, but had awesome open world. Looked really good for a early 90's games.
I barely played the third one. I liked the idea of making my own party, but since I had Amiga 500 I couldn't run it. When I got my first PC, there were way too many games to play, so I just started it but decided that Fallout looks more interesting.
Too bad Ishar didn't age as well as Lands of Lore or Betryal at Krondor.
