What went wrong?
>>340164927
Nothing you dimwit. It's not a really streamable game (too slow for constant streaming), but it's still the best space 4x of recent times. Also why watch someone build a space empire, when you can do it yourself.
They released a game with no meaningful end goal and broken AI.
>>340164927
Everyone interested in the game is too busy playing it rather than watching it.
>>340164927
Is a Paracucks game without 5 big DLCs/expansions + mods to fix it.
>tfw never a strategyfag
>tfw got my first victory
I really enjoyed it. Will I like Crusader Kings II?
maybe a few more months to polish
UI needs to be a little more intuitive
AI is brick retarded and suffers from Civ problems when you try to trade/negotiate
Ship building is needlessly stupid because you can just DUDE CORVETTE SPAM LMAO
Classic late game lacking content
Economy is fucked late game. Harness energy of an entire star. Only 2 energy credits from it
> Can't drag an asteroid into a capital planet of filthy zealot scum to send a message throughout the galaxy that your empire is not to be fucked with
Could be like Civ5 where expansions save the game though
>watching someone play a GSG
that's a sleeping pill, not a "twitch"
>>340165314
What is a meaningful end goal? it has the same goal than all paradox games.
>>340164927
they released the game unfinished and untested. Should be better once the reaming 2 content patches are released
>>340165338
Yes, you will. Though stellaris is closer to europa universalis IV than to Crusader Kings 2. Anyway you should play both.
>>340165356
>Ship building is needlessly stupid because you can just DUDE CORVETTE SPAM LMAO
Not 100% sure of the current meta, but they did nerf it. Also, fighters and bombers now work properly
>>340164927
Played a game with friends, another game with paradox syndrome. Fuck all to do but fight.
>Demand Vassalization (acceptance -4)
Paradox is like bethesda, games come out broken and unfinised as fuck and are only fun after dozens of patches and mod.
>>340164927
No family trees
>>340165698
>are only fun after dozens of patches and mod
>fun after mod
stopped reading right there, tardillenial opinion discarded
Why should I get this if I already play Distant Worlds and don't have any friends who like 4x?
>>340165776
This. How am I supposed to have a thousand year Galactic Empire when every single Emperor is from a different family line?
>>340165871
>playing mods isnt fun
are you just trying to be an edgy contrarian? I dont get it
>>340166551
In the age of Unity and many other similar offerings, please tell me what is the point of mods?
Why not make your super mod as standalone stuff on engine x and be done with it?
Please understand - I'm not telling that modding community is cancer, I'm telling that modding existing games is cancer. Be creative and make your own game, not come and shit in someone else garden.
>>340167251
have you ever played a paradox title?
Complicated games don't do very well anymore. People don't have the patience or mental aptitude.
>>340165394
the difference is when you're playing a historical grand strategy you're sort of role playing as that country, like in HoI3 you go "I'm gonna win the civil war as nationalist Spain then help the 3rd reich win!", or maybe you go in EU4 "I'm gonna unite Japan and convert to Christianity before building a naval empire to rival Britain" and you have a clear context and end goal for your game, as well as a clear time limit
in Stellaris you go "I'm gonna make a cool alien race then conquer space blob #1, space blob #2, space blob #3..." and that's it, that's all there is to do
all the mechanics which make other Paradox games are absent. the supply line system for HoI3 which makes combat interesting, or the trading/diplomacy mechanics from CK/EU/Vic - none are present
Stellaris is just 'get minerals, spend minerals, outpace the AI massively because they don't spend their minerals very well, conquer everything'
this is objective fact too - there's no other victory conditions than 'conquer most of the galaxy', while in all previous titles there's ways to succeed without being aggressive militarily.

Representing them Before or after Crusader Kings?
As always - people, you vote with you wallets. Don't like, don't buy. Buying and then 'having fun' buy installing '50+ total conversion mods' that require overclocked video card to render, while is fun exercise in itself, is idiotic.
It can be compared to buying a book, then getting (sometimes poorly) written chapters from different authors and fans, tearing out some of the original chapters, slapping your new chapters in, and calling this new monster a better book.
While, again, it may be fun, it is idiotic. Especially if you paid for the original book considerable amount of money.

This.
>What went wrong?
I want this meme to die
>>340168061
What's your point? It's fun. I'm even not making sectors so as to recreate an administrative nightmare. See how long I can go with that
It's not a good game. I'm a big Paradox fan and I get tha (sadly), their games tend to be wonky on release and get better with patches and addons over time, but even given that Stellaris is pretty bad. It was barely functional on release and the first big patch, while improving things, didnt fix the underlying problem - that this is a simple, shallow, repetitive game without a shred of flair. It is commendable that they tried a new IP ina new setting and all, change is nice, but it seems in the process they forgot everything that made their games compelling to begin with.
Kids don't understand it because it's not league or cowadoody
>>340167449
>Complicated game
lol
it was released kind of broken and shitty like basically every Paradox game ever
There were actually very important parts of the game which just did not work, at all. Sectors were supposed to build construction ships and handle resource gathering themselves and they didn't. Sectors were supposed to actually follow the mandates and restrictions you gave them and they didn't. One sector mandate was entirely non-functional because it required them to have a construction ship and they never did because they never built them. Slaves were supposed to be able to revolt but they couldn't. The AI was supposed to be able to band together to fight extradimensional threats but they couldn't. The AI was supposed to fight extradimensional threats at all but they didn't. The player wasn't able to actually stop one type of end-game invader because of a bug.
etc., etc.
They are now fixing the game over the course of the next few months of patching. This happens with almost every Paradox game and people were stupid to think that just because EUIV didn't have this problem that no Paradox games would anymore.
Stellaris will be a good game when it's actually finished, which will probably be within a year.
>>340167910

>>340165253
>it's still the best space 4x of recent times
That's not Distant Worlds
>>340164927
the game is good, but the only thing that really needs dev attention is the sector AI, that one is a completely broken mess, otherwise minor things like ship rebalancing
>>340168713
God I hate sectors, those ass holes swapping the pops I enslave off the minerals. No defence platforms, it's all shit.Constantly fuckin switching sector leaders in the worst menu to handle ever.
I still love it, needs more politics before you simply declare war. been steam rolling the AI on Hard, wish my net was good enough for playing against people not in Australia
>>340170464
the worst thing is building farms on planets that don't consume food
>>340165530
>Not 100% sure of the current meta, but they did nerf it.
Yes they nerfed it a lot. I got like 80%+ evasion rates before the patch.
After experimenting a bit it seems like a large screen of corvettes with point defenses and larger ships equipped with lances and emitters works best.
>>340170739
mmm, and then they don't clear tile blockers when I give them cash and I have tech, Fuckin slay me. Why don't they give beta keys to people like me who have like 1k hours on CK2 or someshit
>>340164927
SJW devs forcing their view on players, they forgot that not everybody lives in the same cuck power fantasy as them and simply lost interest in playing or buying the game.
>>340171269
Managing pops without collectivism get really fucking annoying after a while. The game basically wants you to purge pops with non compatibles ethos.
>>340171405
>not purging inferiors for the glory of the god emperor
>>340170464
>>340170739
>>340170978
They fixed a lot you discribed in the 1.1 patch.
>>340164927
It's only the bare bones of a game, even by Paradox standards. There's soo soo much missing, like diplomacy map view and cores on planets.
>>340171381
>Pointing the literally Orwellian control over what mods people are allowed to make and use in their games based on political views of the developer is somehow considered a bait
SWEDEN YES!

>SJW
Seriously just play a slaver culture and enslave all the blacks of you want to run a plantation planet so fucking badly
>>340171513
>not purging inferiors for the glory of the god emperor
The problem is the genocide modifier. I have one save where im constantly at war with two federation which hate me and consider me a threat because i genocide every pop not conforming to my ethos. While im managing because of the shit AI i have to constantly produce ships to keep me 100k fleet strength.
Until you are strong enough this really fucks you over.
>>340171714
>Blaming SJWs for the removal of a mod that nobody actually gave a shit about
Also, the mod for Victoria II that allows you to turns Albanian's into fuel still exists
>>340164927
Is no one else mad at the escort ships deciding to be fucking heroes and charging into every battle?
>>340164927
Twitch views matter for a grand strategy game? They're one one of one of the coolest to actually play, and most boring to acytalctually watch (next to league of course, more borijg)
Sure a bunch of shit was fucked up on launch, but it a lot of the problems are patched now.
>>340171808
mmmmm, there needs to be an espionage mechanic. Some shit empire on the other side of the map shouldn't be able to know that you're killing crab people 100 million light years away. Maybe a fallen empire I guess
>>340172094
I dunno.
I watched one for Europa IV where he played on the fastest setting with no pauses and had a goal of taking over all of Spain. It was pretty funny.
