I certainly felt the main story was weaker compared to HoS because it lacked some strong and developed antagonists, and didn't feel sufficient length-wise to support two stories. Regis and Anna Henrietta were fun to have, but we didn't get enough of them. What B&W does much better than HoS though is in sidequests and sheer number of things to do. Also you get some good loot like Aerondight and Manticore armour so it's not all that bad.

I really wanted a way to redeem Detlaff. Before the Night of Long Fangs, he only killed honorless scum that abused a young girl. Why did we just skip the 3 day waiting period and jump straight to the deadline so Detlaff's threat would be put into motion? It's like the player never got the chance to even resolve it at all between you leaving Dun Tynne and meeting the Duchess at the palace. But AS SOON as he ordered the attack on the city, he became unredeemable in my eyes and had to go. They should have given us a path where we could figure out how to stop the Night of Long Fangs.

Ciri cannot touch Gaunter. It is likely he doesn't even have a true physical form as he is the embodiment of a universal force. He says she is out of his reach because his power likely extends to that single realm where as she can teleport between realms. There is nothing she can do if he stops time, fucks her, then leaves her pregnant if he wanted.

Can just read up on the plot. Almost all of Witcher 3 is inconsequential and 2 is summarized near the start of 3. They are helpful to get to know the lore and characters but 3 stands on its own for the most part.

By itself I would say the plot is decent at best, but compared to Heart of Stone that plot was pretty mediocre.
It felt more like another one of the usual Witcher quests to kill monsters but with extra filler to prolong it.
Dettlaff was a vampire acting like a fucking child so the decision to kill him was pretty easy.
They should have made it harder by somehow linking Dettlaff's life to Regis, in a way that if you killed the vampire who gave Regis life back, Regis would die too.
In the end it was a good DLC, but honestly if it wasnt for characters like Regis, Anna and the Elder Vampire, I probably wouldnt have liked it.

I mean in terms of physical abilities since it states he used no magic so I assume no enhancement magic. Geralt on the other hand is genetically modified and almost super human. I can understand during their fight at the castle he can almost 1v3 Geralt, Yen, and Regis because at that point he is using magic but with ANY magic he embarrasses Geralt?

Before you go into fairy tale land, read all the entries in the journal. During the ending quest, go to Syanna and question her motives. Then tell the queen and in the trial, shine light on her motives. They will reconcile at that point.

I didn't go see the unseen elder, I freed Syanna and got her the ribbon, when we met Dettlaff he tries to attack her and the ribbon teleports her back to the fairy tale world, kill Dettlaff, be sympathetic to Syanna next time you talk to her, she hugs her sister and nothing bad happens.

Fron the Dun Tynne cross roads (NE of Dun Tynne before the bridge), head NE of that into the woods and there is a house there with a woman who is being haunted. It is a pretty funny quest. They really outdid themselves with the sidequests in this xpac. Story might not be as strong as HoS but the sidequests/region are fucking above and beyond anything else in the game.
