The international version had fast forward, on PS2. A PS2 could play FF12 at 4x and 8x the gameplay speed when you toggled it.
Since its called "The Zodiac Age" edition, it must have fast forward too then. I hope its in because that's what might be the only thing that prevents me from falling asleep while grinding for hunts if I buy this version of FF12.

I really doubt that'll look better than the emulated version, since it runs amazing with added effects due to the high-res default textures which were just rendered lower by the PS2. From the looks of it, they just use the original assets and called it a day. Now thats not necessarily wrong, but the emulated version is simply further at this point.

The Zodiac version still gives you freedom on how to develop your character, the license boards are only slightly smaller than the single large one. It makes you plan out your characters MORE since there are classes that can gain powerful cross-class skills (IE healing magic on Knight) if you give them specific Espers/Quickening tiles, and there are way more augments to make up for the lost equipment/magic. That means you actually have to think about licenses instead of just buying the same licenses on every character.
Literally nobody who has actually played through IZJS can honestly say it "ruins" the license board since the LB was a shitty system anyway. IZJS gives you actual character diversity and a reason to use more than 3 characters beyond 3 "extra lives".

There's the initial PS2 release which had a License Board system, in which you get points that you can spend on a board that all characters more or less share, that unlock more spells or equipment for them, etc.
This system got criticized for essentially making all your characters play the exact fucking same.
The game is also really fucking slow paced and boring.
International Zodiac added a job system which forces characters into certain roles, your party is no longer homogenized.
Beyond that they added a turbo button which puts everything on fast-forward, making the godawful shit combat more tolerable.

Still, Basch is a betrayed hero and Ashe's kingdom is literally at stake because of the Arcadian empire wanting to force annex it just to beat up another empire to the south.
The only stuff that did feel forced was the stuff with Balthier and his father. Very lazy twist. I more enjoyed the story from Basch and Ashe's perspectives since it made the whole thing with Gabranth more interesting.

As a PC player there is absolutely NO reason for me to get this since FF XII is perfectly emulatable on PCSX2 or any other PS2 emulator.

The return is that they buffed the fuck out of shitty styles of play to the point that you can have a character who only has crossbows and time magic actually be viable at end game. Sorry about your 6 carbon copy characters that all have katanas, all magic, and no techniques besides charge, I'll just be over here casting break and shear on bosses.Also classes adds replay value, encourages you to explore more weapons, and encourages you to actually use all 6 characters instead of only 3
The only reason people like the original more is because it was easier to break since every fucking character could shoot right to the good stuff. Don't lie about "wanting to roleplay as a thief mage with handbombs" or "specializing characters." FF12 vanilla had LESS specialization since the amount of actual good shit was smaller.
