This is true. Tidus projected his mother's flaws onto his father. It doesn't mean that he didn't hate Jecht, those feelings can't easily be written over even if you know their true nature, as Tidus came to.
I'm really happy though that even with everything Tidus learned about his father, they didn't back out of Tidus telling Jecht that he hated him. They built that up the entire game, and they followed through on it. That needed to happen for the game, and his character arc to feel complete, and it did.

Not him but I spent two days farming One Eye. Just to come out of it with weapons for only Tidus, Lulu, and Rikku.
It was at that point I realized I was about to spend a week grinding for spheres for maybe another 4 hours of content. So I just maxed out everyone's stats with cheat engine.
Then when I finished I started up X-2 and spent 20+ hours on the Fiend Arena before ever leaving the ship for the first time.
Jecht at least loved his son, despite being awful at actually expressing it. Tidus' mother was a worthless cunt that abandoned him as soon as Jecht disappeared.

I wouldn't want that, they explicitly stated that FFX and FFVII were linked and are in the same universe/timeline, and I honestly believe Jenova is a summoning from FFX.
I wouldn't mind if FFX-3 would be a very distant prequel to FFVII, giving us the origins to Jenova, why they had to evacuate Spira (probably pyrefly/Jenova/Seymour related, who fucking knows) and starting life on Gaia.
What if Jenova ends up being a summoning like Sin, except Seymour is the caster yet he is bound to Spira somehow, preventing him from leaving the planet. So he uses Jenova to seek out the descendants of Spira to fulfill his twisted fantasy of genocide to give them all eternal peace.

Even Tidus realizes it by the end, that Jecht actually wasn't that bad, he loved his son and when he was around he forced his wife to spend time with Tidus because he didn't understand. Tidus' only real complaint against Jecht was that he was tough on him like most father's are, and that his disappearance caused his mother to stop paying attention to him since she had no one to tell her to do so. People and Tidus realize it's all the mother's fault for neglecting him, Jecht at least tried when he was there.
