Multiplayer shut down officially for good in late 2014. But an outrage in 2013 was all that kept it up that long. Now the community has a patch to play through the Network option as opposed to GFWL.

Guys seriously please tell me. Why is it that classic Halo games are now so dead? Even TF2 still has tons of players many years from it's release now. Halo 3 has a couple measly thousands at any given time now. MCC is basically completely dead thanks to 343 fucking it up. PC fags never liked Halo. In fact the only PC fags that ever liked Halo are probably the ones in this thread now.

MCC is beyond fucking dead. It's also still fucked to this day. On top of all of this some people simply do not like how it's matchmaking system was set up. I know I didn't like it.
Maybe sometimes I want to play only Halo 2 gametypes for a whole day. Maybe another day only CE game types and so on. Yet the way their matchmaking works you are going to be stuck playing a majority of the games on most playlists.
It's matchmaking is utter ass. They should be sued for putting out such an awful product.
I haven't played Halo 2 online since they killed the original servers on the xbox. This is top.

People still play Quake, m8. Also Counter Strike 1.6, all kinds of RPGs like Fallout 1 and 2, Morrowind, Planescape Torment, ect. Not to mention old RTS games and countless other shit that's survived aging by virtue of its timeless qualities.
A game doesn't lose what made it great with the passing of a few years. If it does, it's either because its successors surpassed it in every way (rare), or it was all flashy grafix or hype bullshit when it came out (common).
Shit, I want to play Halo 2 right now, but I don't want to play with kb+m, and the MCC kind of blows. If there were controller only servers, I'd look into it. (I have nothing against kb+m, it's just that Halo 2 was a console shooter and I've only ever played Halo with a controller, it's likely a totally different game with kbm}.
