I think a big thing to is that those moments felt organic and as if you were approaching them and crafting them within BB. In FW it is just said straight to you, with little agency. The AI really is pretty bullshit though. I played it through on hard the first run, and by the end of the game spamming the flamethrower and just sprinting to the objective becomes one of the only viable options. 1. Learn about video games. Play many genres, and understand why you like or dislike them. Understand that they are a medium of their own and what you must do to adequately review them is not necessarily the same as a film reviewer, for example, must do. Would maybe help to learn some game design.
2. Learn how to write properly, learn about journalism, take a media ethics class, understand the connections between journalism and democratic ideals.
3. This is, perhaps, the most difficult step. You now have the skill to be what you want. You need now an opportunity. Sadly, with the exception of maybe getting lucky through Youtube, you're going to need connections. You don't become a writer of an established site, or magazine through your curriculum, or your skills. You do it through your friends. Nepotism at its ugliest. You need to be part of the gang without sacrificing what you accomplished in the first two steps.

This focus on pure gameplay means reviews don't mean anything, you gotta watch videos and try the game out yourself to see if you like the flow. Reviewers will always pretend to have been fans from the start and won't admit that they can't play the game so they'll give it a high rating to keep their cred. SJW nonsense is virtually nonexistant. There will be the occasional complaint about busty fighters but they'll never play the game or get their voice heard over in Japan so its a non issue.

These people expected a salry for their reports, and findings, like ANY REAL PROFESSIONAL. So they moved to Tech, and Gadgets which are still very real, and formal publications.
The problem with gaming journalists is that they hate videogames, because they are a waste of time for them, they are an obstacle in their way for fame and glory but they do not realize they are there forever. I personally deem inhuman to hire anyone over 24 for gaming coverage.

They can't pay for advertisement.
No one is insterested in them, because markiplier and pewdiepie did not talk about them, and you can guess how their selection procedure works.
Due to the previous, it means no ad revenue.
No one will pay you for covering them, it is pretty much out of gusto.
So unless you fork it over, your gaming press is pretty much this, forever, until ad revenue is not enough, or gaming journalists demand real pay, but they always pick people out from the bottom. Real journalist simply move on to bigger stuff.
This is one of those things where at the end of the day you know absolutely nothing whatsoever is going to change so you don't even follow the proceeding events.
