I didn't really give 2 shits about shoes when I was a kid and I didn't know that Sonic's shoes were a marketing tie-in in SA2. I didn't even know that Soap was a shoe brand and I kept wondering why there were so many billboards advertising soap in Sonic Adventure 2. I thought Sega re-designed Sonic's shoes because of the grinding mechanic but then went back to his old shoes in Sonic Heroes because the redesign wasn't popular.
