This is an interesting mentality and I can totally see it. Cheat codes weren't just a way to beat videogames easily, they were also a way to play the game in a different way.
Some of the most fun I had was using weird gameshark codes on Goldeneye and playing with all the ridiculous guns in Turok with unlimited ammo. Hell, even the cheats in Crackdown (that were DLC I think?) were hilariously fun. Honestly I experience this the first time I tried playing through GTA4 without cheats. I did it, got the trophy, and truthfully I didn't really have that much fun. I had more fun in GTA:SA with the fucking flying cars cheat.
Some games are just way more fun with cheats, particularly open world games. The removal of cheat codes has really impacted games negatively if you ask me.

I fucking love fanservice in video games. If the game is decent enough and has fanservice in it, I will probably end up buying it.
I also hate "tired gamer" threads, all I see in those threads are a bunch of people complaining that they got bored and don't have anything else to do, so they complain about vidya. Everyone gets bored with video games if they do it long enough, just find something else to do, fuck sake.
I'm really bad at video games but act like I'm really good at them. If it comes time to play a multiplayer game with friends, I'll purposely pick a role or character that doesn't have to carry to win and act like I'm doing it because even though it's a shit role I'm a nice guy like that.

I think the best Final Fantasy games are the spinoffs like Tactics, Tactics Advanced, and Crystal Chronicles.
I played and loved Final Fantasy 7, but I don't remember anything about it besides how to breed Chocobos and beating Emerald and Ruby weapon.

I'm actually really really bad at Paper Mario. When I was 7 I rented the game and I couldn't get past Goomba King cause I didn't know I was supposed to hit the tree.
And then I got Paper Mario Thousand Year Door day one and I was stuck on beating the Shadow Queen for years.
