Symmetra is great depending on the lineup and helps the team more than people think. +25 health for everyone and the teleport. She does need a buff though; her sentry placement rate needs to be increased because right now it takes a whole minute to set up a good defense with her and then an enemy breathes on a single turret.
D.Va is a good secondary tank and works well for harassing snipers.
Now what I do hate are people who pick double sniper, because at least one of them is guaranteed to be shit, and anyone who picks Tracer off of the bat is usually absolutely terrible. Tracer is basically a worse McCree at this point.

I want to love Zen, I really do. If the enemy team doesn't have a Widowmaker I can absolutely wreck shit with him. I just finished a round on Hanamura (Attack) which we won in less than like five minutes where I got 10+ kills, no deaths, four gold medals and a silver (silver for healing since we had a Lucio).
But Widowmaker is just an instant anti-fun for him. And she's so fucking common because she's ebin cool sniper with wallhacks and is one of the more marketed characters.

Tracer at start is an easy way to get a leg up on the enemy team by flanking them before they realize they can even be flanked. Easiest way to secure a checkpoint. if the rest of your team doesn't just abandon it for kills.
