Don't know but Balrog sounds stupid for a Spanish name, Vega could be his last name, or whatever but sounds more spanish, it's better. Bison fits both the boxer and the dictator, though, but I think M.Bison sounds more powerful than Vega.

Personally I think the US names are better than the JP names. M. Bison is just a generic clone of a real fighter, Balrog helps remove him from that image.

This. Has to do with how ROM chips were manufactured back in the day. You had to have everything planned out well ahead of time to manufacture those things. Last minute changes were something you simply couldn't do.
