Is it possible for a AAA game to successfully release as a surprise (without a release date or window given before the release, or even without any information about the game given before the release)?
It's almost become the norm in music to drop albums out of nowhere. Beyonce, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, U2 and Death Grips have all done it. Could a game from an important publisher like Rockstar or Valve release out of nowhere and be as successful as surprise albums have been in music?
Drake thread?

probably not

S.m.h I was asking some interesting shit f.a.m
>>339976672
Nah, I don't see it happening at all.
Video game companies push advertising way too hard and rely on that to make sales too much for them to ever give it up and put out good games. It's far easier to churn out mediocre garbage with half of the total "development" cost going towards advertising.

Are you at least getting paid to post this? Trump has gorillions of dollars you know, and he's gonna make much more after he passes laws that benefit his companies, why are you missing out?

>fight the machine bro!
>>339980394
im waiting for the stock market crash which the goverment will let happen as soon its convenient
>>339976672
To put it simply the answer is no. There is just too many people that are involved in production for it not to be leaked at some point. Not only that but is is economically unviable. Why do you think games have so much pre release promotions and betas that are just supposed to act as hype tools.
>>339980464
>yolo my man who gives a shit about the companies
>>339980618
>stock market crash
>the goverment will let happen
Crashes don't work that way.
Naw, they wouldn't want to miss out on all the extra preorders because people are super susceptible to hype.
>>339980937
they do when you merge government with the markets to the point there are no more traditional investors. I'm talking U.S. markets of course.
>>339981057
As log as there exist competing markets, no they don't. The world isn't just the US

/thread
>>339981301
I know I cant convince you but the bubbles are there and the government has at least some control of when they pop, if they raised interest rates it would all come tumbling down.
>>339976672
Valve could probably release Half Life 3 out of nowhere to great effect. But that's largely due to an existing notion of preconceived hype.
>>339981730
No, I get where you come from. Thing is, they can't make interest rates drop below a certain point either. Yet, they are forced to do this, risking investors to pull out completely.
>>339982534
and with pattern day trading laws its hard enough to get in, its all stagnant controlled bullshit.
