CHEST!

Name a game that literally does this.
>>
>>339908812
munsters game when?
>>
>>339908867
Neptunia does it. Uzume's chesuto becomes something like "in the chest."

I've seen it translated as "CHEST!" in a few other games too, but I can't remember them off the top of my head. I know for sure an anime did that.

I really wish I could have enjoyed this game more. The combo system was just too fucking ridiculous. Most anime fighters are ruined by excessive combo mechanics
>>
>>339908812

"chesuto" means "chest" though

what is your problem with this exactly
>>
>>339909230
Under Night's combos are pretty easy though, especially compared to other fighters.

Unless you were talking about Akatsuki Blitzkampf.
>>
>>339909248
This isn't google translate. Its literal meaning does not convey the point of saying it in most context.

Sometimes translators are completely retarded. It reminds me how Ken actually fucking says "seeee no" in the English dub for SFV

>>339909385
It's not about how easy or hard they are. It's about the length of them.
>>
>>339909451

>Its literal meaning does not convey the point of saying it in most context.

I don't get what context this would be, explain? Is there a specific example OP is using that I'm missing?
>>
>>339909517
Chesuto can be used as a sort of "let's do this" or "go for it" along with being a basic kiai/shout to use when attacking in martial arts. Translating it as Chest is fucking stupid and I can't think of a single situation where it would be a good translation for it. The point is usually to convey excessive energy and power, which shouting the English word "chest" does not do at all.

Even shit as simple as HIIYA would be better.
>>
>>339909451
I wouldn't call UNIEL combos long at all. Unless you're playing Carmine or something.

UNIB though, that was some shit.

Man. how cool would a Universal monsters RPG be?
>>
>>339912710
it just wouldn't work in today's climate. people want quip shit like marvel they aren't going to like classic horror
>>
>>339912847
Maybe Universal's new monster cinematic universe will spark a resurgence who am I trying to kid, it's already shit
>>
>>339909451
Ken does not do that, he just grunts. You probably saw the japanese version and thought the va sounded foreign which maybe he is i dunno
>>
>>339913352
he definitely says it in sfv

>playing game with jap dub and eng subs
>character says "OK!" in clear english
>subtitles: "Alright!"
Why is this allowed
>>
>>339914019
Because the way it is being used in Japanese is closer to alright. This is a pretty common thing across all languages when they use borrowed words and phrases.

A perfect example that honestly pisses me off is FINISH. The Japanese love having characters, especially foreign characters, in fighting games shout out FINISH at the end of their attack sequence. This shit works fine within the context of Japanese, but holy shit is it awkward in English.

It should be translated to something like "it's over" or "this is it!" even though they are technically saying something in English already. It's why I am still scratching my head at Rashid and Guile both saying FINISH in SFV as though it makes any real sense in English.

Fucking this.

English voice actors are expected to put on accents for different nationalities and get shit if they don't/can't do it. Meanwhile Japs get a free pass.

CHESTO CHESTO CHESTO CHESTO!!!!!!
>>
>>339921223
The only example I can think of japs using accents was in Otokojuku for the exagerated Gaijin accent "Shut up, Gamma Ray"; but that's parody so maybe that's why. Jam speaks broken japanese in GG right? Does her VA reflect that or is it only in the lines?
