This is Luigi in a nutshell, to be honest. If your opponent knows how to press X, Y, or up on the thumbstick; you're shit out of luck. Luigi has awful aerial approaches, which is why he gets messed up by every top tier. Feels bad man

any advice for someone starting out in competitive melee? I've been watching it for years but only just started practicing it. Just want to be able to enter a local now and then.
I'm working on wavedashing and landing consistently. Is there supposed to be a lag period immediately after wavedashing where you can't attack, or am I doing it wrong? It seems like pro players can attack immediately but a lot of times I can't until I slide a little ways.

Yes. 10 frames. It seems like they can but its most likely because youre seeing the video at 30 FPS, which would make it seem a bit faster.

My advice to you would be to look into installing 20XX 4.05 if you want to git gud being a bedroom warrior. You can use Master debug to look at your action state to see whether or not your character is actionable at any given time, in addition to some more useful shit

Sheik can do everything Falcon can but better. She has the second best projectile in the game (some argue needles are better than Falco's lasers).
She has a better recovery. She has better combos. She has the best shield in the game. She doesn't get comboed as hard.She more fuckable
Her tech-chase is miles better than Falcon.
She can force tech-chase Falcon like she would a spacies (unless the Falcon is a god at SDI), but Falcon cant tech-chase her.
And the list goes on.
Falcon having more burst power doesn't mean shit.
Don't get me wrong, I FUCKING HATE SHEIK, but that's just how the things are.
Also edgeguarding Sheik is a 50/50 kind of deal, while edguarding Falcon as Sheik is literally braindead.

But then you have to consider that its on floaty and slow as all fuck luigi. So, typical of a mid-tier, you cant approach with FAir. NAir and UAir angle coverage become even more situational and committal. He also gets platform camped pretty bad.
Dont do uptilt stationary. He could slide while in idle state, why would you do that? If you do, you trade with Fox's nair, he techs, while youre still falling. So mix up with CC dsmash, invincible upsmash, and low commit uptilt, within the proper ranges ofc.

On capitalizing on tech chases. Refering to my green text. Its not necessary to do so when you get a grab. It is when you get an uair, knee or gentlemen at low percent. There are similar situations for sheik. It is dependent on the player to capitalize when he gets these hits with the proper punish. If the chara had worse punish off of a less desirable NEUTRAL WIN that is worth mentioning, than they are low tier.
