Actually, just compare Rogue\Nethack\ADOM\IVAN to RoR and all the differences is what is not roguelike about it.

Although to be honest, it does share a few things with roguelikes, such as pixel graphics, perma-death and semi-generated levels (although this could be excluded because it's actually different map layouts and types)
Also, roguelikes are not necessarily ASCII characters. Roguelikes were after all the craze in the past, and this is why we have a few iconic roguelikes that are in pixelated/ascii style.

It relies on quick reaction and reflex rather than slow, methodical, careful analysis of the situation in a turn-by-turn basis and thinking outside the box. That's the main difference. Just because it has random elements and permadeth does not mean it's a roguelike. It's more of an action platformer with random generation.
