Yes it is. Pachinko only means metal balls. It can take any form of game and be called Pachinko as long as it contains metal balls.
To be fair though japs call it Pachislot.

They will make a new Metal Gear Solid though.

I hope Konami isn't retarded and hires PG to do Rising 2. Kojima would have nothing against it, because he is cool with them and be okay with them doing it.

It's just a shame to see these Fox Engine MGS 3 assets wasted on something like this, that's all. I know the existence of a pachislot machine doesn't erase the existence of an actual new game but god damn seeing these models is such a tease.

Metal Gear Rising wasn't solely made by PG though, it was codeveloped by Kojima Productions staff (though Kojima himself was not involved in any of it), who handled the story and most of the character designs, PG was mainly in charge of the combat and general gameplay aspects.

I think the idea is that capcom haven't also said "yeah, we're not going to make any more games, we think you just want lots more slot machines"

I do not believe anyone finds the idea of a themed arcade machine particularly abhorrent, it is the concept that a beloved series will be confined entirely to them from now on is upsetting, or perhaps just depressing. Mostly, I find it bizarre.
>>
>>339843318
We're getting 3 new Resident Evil games in the next 2 years. Can't say the same about Metal Gear since Konami is only interested in mobile and pachinko.
>>
>>339842141
Like they give a shit, pachinko user are addicted normies, they don't care about the "powerful IP" they like the fact they got a new machine with different music.
>>

>>339843516
Konami haven't been relevant for years, that's all there is to it. They couldn't keep up with rising development costs and decided to give up before losing more money.

The alternative to putting out these gambling machines wouldn't be making more MGS games, it would just be nothing. You'd have to be crazy to think otherwise.
>>
>>339843480
>Mostly, I find it bizarre.
Same. I don't know why they would even bother with trying to recreate things in the Fox engine, it's not like the nips who regularly play pachinko even care.

>Confusing degenerates with new symbols for their vice.

woah now soldier, these people are here to pretend their life isn't a shackle to the golden phallus of gambling. We don't want to do anything that snaps the illusion of wealth by putting in specific video game themes. That might remind them of a realm beyond smoky walls and the smell of despair.

What is that logic even? As a company that doesn't make any sense, they need to make profit somehow, unless they would be willing to go bankrupt, which I doubt.
>>
>>339843790
I spent hours trying to finish all the minigames in Yakuza 5, the longest being fucking pachislot. It's mind-numbingly boring, no amount of fancy CG cutscenes, flashing lights, or blaring music can change that.

I genuinely don't understand these things, or why Konami thinks that sticking franchise characters onto them makes them better.

Aren't they literally just slot machines covered in pictures? Even the rollers are the same as any other machine, just fruit and sevens and treasure and shit.
>>
>>339843480
>I think the idea is that capcom haven't also said "yeah, we're not going to make any more games, we think you just want lots more slot machines"
This may come as a surprise, but Konami never actually said that either.
>>
>>339847643
No they dispense tokens. There is a roundabout way to get those tokens back into cash. You get a slip once you are done playing. They count out your winnings and there is like a prize area. It depends on the parlor and whatever chain. You then exchange the points for something that looks really useless, you take that to another kiosk that is like across the street and then they give you money in exchange.

People are mad mainly because they are teasing us by recreating iconic scenes from arguably the most popular MGS game in the Fox engine. Knowing they are never going or have any intention of remaking these games is just like pouring salt on wounds. Nobody buys the we'll totally make new MGS games bullshit either. SE teased its fans for years with FF7 but at least they are getting a remake. MGS fans get slot machines, yay.
>>
>>339849924
I hate konami, but crying dude is right.

For starters, where does it say the cutscenes were made in the fox engine
>>
>>339848414
There are 2 goals for Pachi Slots based on an existing IP.

1- Obviously to make money like any slot machine

2- To get the fans of the series to play the machine, when they might not gamble previously.

The appeal of the MGS3 machine will be to get people to spend money in hopes they unlock a cutscene.
>>
>>339849924
>>339851178
I don't understand it, there's already an HD port of MGS3. I want to say most people shouting "OH SHIT HD REMAKE" or whatever are just trolling.

But it's clearly the Fox Engine.
>>
>>339851237

Its more like Konami has all these iconic franchises with large fanbases like Castlevania, Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid. And they are all being wasted on shitty gambling and mobile games. If Konami doesn't want to make games anymore, fine, fuck em. But they should at least sell their IPs to publishers who give a shit. I bet Nintento would pay a shit load of cash for the Castlevania IP.

Japanese fan artists can pull out quite good drawings of the things they like in 1 day.

This is prerendered video. Also yeah, this might have been done way before, but maybe this pachinko was already planned a lomg time ago.

People are more likely to play games based on shit they recognize, regardless of what it is. Do you think The Addams Family pinball machine is the best selling pinball machine of all time because it managed to capture some untapped pinball-addicted segment of the Addams Family audience, or even because it was a particularly good game? They adapted it knowing that literally anyone with even a cursory understanding of what it's based on will be more likely to play it.

Depends on how much they can actually make from these machines. Microsoft bought Minecraft for 2 billion, and rare for 350 million. EA bought the Bioware IPs for nearly 1 billion. These IPs can be sold for pretty high numbers. If Konami sold all their IPs for say 1-2 billion then continued to make original pachinko machines I don't think it would really change their current revenue.
>>
>>339841482
Is that even pachinko? I see the tray and maybe the launcher but normally even the slot machines have a little more going on in terms of shit you bounce off of and stuff. Does the screen go away when you fire the balls or something, or is it just one of those things where you have to fire the balls to technically call it pachinko so they can get away with just making a slot machine?
