If you really played the game, you'd know rolling is extremely situational and mostly useful against enemies with projectile/aoe attacks.
Against standard foes rolling is not optimal and can even put you in compromising situations if there is more than one enemy.
Sidestep dodge, block, parry, bombs these are your real bread and butter if you actually play the game and play the game on something above normal difficulty.

Signs can be pretty varied. Actually Alchemy and Swords are sort of least engaging, sort of the OP build where you just hack and slash to win because you're a roided out mutant killing machine and that's perfectly viable.

If you are a serious poster asking a serious question, no. This isn't all there is to the combat. Bugs aside, on Death March that would be a quick recipe for defeat as most anything will easily counter and subsequently one hit kill you. You need to make smart choice of your signs, equipment, decoctions and oils and prepare for combat properly.
Naturally as you near end game you have so many stacking effects that you become unstoppable, but early game is painful since you are overleveled by pretty much everything.

i've never played Dank Moles, but I DID play FROMsoft's older IP Otogi 1 & Otogi 2 on the original XBAWKZ. I'm on console. I've been playing on Death March. I took a break for about four months to play other things. When I came back I noticed things were awfully easier and assumed it was the Death March nerf everyone talked about. As it turns out due to patching my game dropped the difficulty to the lowest available. I've completed maybe two hours of content before noticing, with said content being very end game.. Can I turn Death March back on or am I fucked? I don't think I have any saves before patches were applied left, due to a habit of manual saving often.
