Definitely not nightmare.
Hard is pretty fucked for the prologue. RNG is pretty significant and I got lucky the prologue boss didn't heal when he probably should have.
Hard is fun but I would recommend cheatengine or something to beat the prologue boss unless you want to spend hours hunting for materials to make deadly food (which is pretty much you main source of damage and attacks in tough fights until the end of chapter 3)
Fishing a decent amount can also help
