The problem I have is that the boss fights have voiced dialogue but it's cut short if you beat the enemy. And if you take too long you get a shit ranking. So you have to play everything twice if you care about character interactions.

Look at the movelist. See the weak attacks and how every third, fifth and seventh goes into a hard attack? That attack throws your enemies into the air. Noticeable when a green ring/light appears after an attack. There's also a sound like blades clashing playing then.
That's when you press B or whatever quick step is on your pad/keyboard, and your senran will follow that enemy into the air. If you then attack with weak attacks, you'll make a special air rave combo. You can also chain these when your senran is leveled enough.

Ye its not really hard as well. You can go into free training or an easy mission against regular enemies and then try it. Especially the X-X-Y combo, the first you unlock after leveling up, is easy to train with. Once you get used to the green effect, you can trigger it even if you were just button bashing and didn't pay any attention. The time frame for the follow up with B is really generous.
The tech list also shows your senrans aerial rave combo, but its just X/weak attack anyway. At least in SV iirc.
