I would like to obtain a monitor that will be used purely for entertainment purposes. So, i'm aiming for a fuckhuge one, surely over 27 inches if 16:9, but then i started wondering: is 21:9 a good idea?

Bluray movies are usually made for 16:9 so i guess i would rarely use it in movies as it was meant to be used, but i'm wondering about vidya. Obviously wider is better, but then again it's not that wide, it's still waaay more narrow than, let's say, three 4:3 displays. Not to mention three 4:3 IPS displays would be cheaper than one 21:9 but then again, bezels are making it itty bitty less appealing.

Does anyone use 21:9 display there? Was it worth it?

I've always wanted a 21:9 but didn't because of support and price.

>but want the proportion that's not supported by most entertainment purposes

Are you stupid?

So, is it unsupported in vidya? I doubt it, i struggle to find any modern game that can't use weird resolutions.

It'll hurt performance because you have to render more.

I don't mind, i have performance to spare and i can reduce graphics quality if needed.

Nope nope nope. I have 2560x1080, 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 displays at work and the last one is most comfortable for browsing etc.
For movies get 4k as both 720p and 1080p scale evenly on it.

>browsing etc
yeah, obviously 4:3 or 16:10 is the best one for this, but i already have "workstation" for well, work. I'm talking purely about vidya and movies. Do you regret your 21:9 purchase, or is it useful for anything?

4k is still pretty expensive, and i probably wouldn't be able to play anything other than q3a in native res. I know i could scale it nicely, but what's the point then?

I have the Dell 3415w monitor. 34inch ultrawide It's great for entertainment purpose. It's not that good for video games. Most of the time you will be playing window mode or you can play full screen with the black bars on the side.

What kind of games do you play? Every game i could think of was capable of supporting 21:9 resolutions, but maybe i wasn't looking hard enough.

Most of the times I play weeb games so yeah. They usually don't go past 1080 x 1920 resolution.
