I was thinking, but do you think that Bloodborne actually has a bit of similarity to Silent Hill in terms of structure? Like, you start out in Yharnam which has monsters but it's still feels like reality, but then later you bring out the nightmare and things get creepier. That reminds me of the Fog World and the Otherworld. There's also things like the spacetime stuff that doesn't really make sense (really old letter addressed to you, old yharnam still on fire and inhabited despite being purged long ago, dude alive when the door's shut but long dead when the door's open, etc) which reminds me a lot of things like the letters and messages starting to talk directly to the player in SH2 and stuff. And the fact the true ending needs you to collect three hidden items in the gameworld reminds me of some of those weird endings from Silent Hill as well where you had to find ritual stuff.
Obviously it's a different sort of game and there's the gothic horror and lovecraft stuff that's more prominent but I feel like the game might actually appeal to fans of Silent Hill as well.
What do you think about Bloodborne's themes and atmosphere? What would you equate it to the most?
