Reds are fine, it's purples who are unnecessary.

I'm no pvpskills but I can hold my own against a regular invader in a 1v1. I honestly dont see what the problem is, if you don't like invaders play offline. Period, if the game is going to allow you to summon phantoms and read messages it has to balance that by sending in a dark spirit. I don't understand whats so hard to understand offline = no invaders online = invaders but also helpful messages
PVP in souls games have always been a huge fucking joke. If it's not absurdly laggy, it's hilariously imbalanced. Complete with poor planning from both Fromsoft and Bandai Namco.
Any game company that blames the players because the hackers invaded them needs to be liquidated. Bandai Namco is the single worst customer support team in the universe.
let's look past that and look at the problem of shockwaves. All souls PVP is based on the concept of just hitting an invisible ghost of where your opponent was standing, and that's how you win duels. This is equally true with spells, and with items and objects. There has not been a souls game made with proper connection balancing yet, and there likely never will be. It will just be people wesker-sliding around and hitting people from a million miles away.
And Dark Souls 3 makes this even WORSE. Now, instead of just one or two people PVPing, you can have up to eight! Wonderful! This totally isn't a complete clusterfuck that turns an already luck-based system into who gets gangraped last. With an entire rainbow of phantoms running around, lagging the game, and further perpetuating twink and meme builds.
Speaking of twinks, I just fought a guy named 'HexTwink' in Dark Souls 2, +5 Dark Sunset Staff, 80K soul memory range.
Full attunement slots. Now, I could buy that maybe he didn't really hack a Dark Sunset Staff for himself, and he really did trade it to himself from a higher-level character. And maybe the math works out that he could get full attunement slots with the ring and some skill points.
I fully understand, after three games of this, why people play this game offline now.

Yet jump attacks are the perfect attack for a parry spammer because they aren't prepared to punish it. DS3 is pretty damn balanced that way. Everything has some kind of counter, the real fun is in trying to figure it out.

The problem is that it won't stop them from trying to do their 1-shot on you with a Hornet's ring. One screw up and that's it. You can execute three well-timed attacks on them, but that will go out the window when they parry your next attack.

DS2 parries only worked in PVP if the user was absurdly lucky or could see into the future. This isn't even taking magic shockwaves into account.
The reason that the monastery scimitar was so godlike was because it was the only weapon in the game that had a sane reaction-based parry window. Otherwise, you spend your time winding-up for parries in the hopes that you timed it right with how his animation is currently playing; which is never actually accurate because of how bad the netcode was.
The best, maybe only, viable PvP builds in DS2 were hexers because Dark Orb travels so fast that it can outrun the retarded way the rolling window was calculated. I can't picture someone spending time trying to learn PvP parry windows with anything other than the scimitar because of how random the netcode would favor people.
