The only thing that distinguishes it from other RPG's is that all the enemies have distinct personalities, and that's just all story fluff. Remove all story elements, and it's just a boring RPG with some bullet hell

Let's see, the music is pretty good, the characters are fairly lovable, retro art style is nice, overall pretty good game

*Animation and graphics are unique, but I can't say if that's synonymous with good. Personal opinion.
*Music is great, varied and fits the mood in the game regardless of where you are.
*Story is meh. I didn't care for it.
*Characters are okay. I like Papyrus and ASGORE. Sans is pretty cool. Other than that, I'm neutral.
*Gameplay is unique, but again I can't say it's free from flaws. It's something worth experiencing.
My biggest problems are the unskippable cutscenes which drag on too long, the endings which don't seem varied enough, the extreme lack of difficulty, and it's kinda shallow with its mechanics (ie equipping items doesn't do anything worthwhile).
6/10. I'd experience it once. One of the better games of 2015, but it's no GOTY.

Short, good for what it's worth. Clever at times, but don't expect anything mind-blowing or the second coming of jesus that it's fanbase makes it out to be.

It was good but a tad overrated on a blind run before its popularity attracted an awful fanbase, but that group has calmed down so I imagine there's no cancer that can kill your appreciation of it these days.
All those fags went on to make YIIK and Knuckle Sandwich.
