Nope, nobody has been able to recreate it.

Is there actually one of his video how he manipulate RNG?
In this one he explain what RNG is:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiuLeTE2MeQ
In this one, he say that he can manipulated the pendulum by manipulating RNG
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f35hBQ0zfO0
But I haven't found the video that explain how he manipulate the RNG in the first place.
>>
I wouldn't be surprised if he actually left the game running for 10^1101 years.
>>
>I'VE SPENT DAYS

>>
It took 52 years for the cog to remain still for 1% of the total time it needed to stay still for.
>>
>>339743581
IIRC the glitch was performed on an actual n64, so most people think there might have been some dust in the cartridge or maybe it was tilted, so it was a physical mistake rather than a glitch.
>>
Jokes aside, I think his videos are really interesting
>>
>>339743947
Dust generation plus trial and error with savestates.
>>
>>339744312

Same, just wish he'd talk in all his videos
>>
>>339744330
Where is the video explaining that?
>>
>>339743947
creating dust has an RNG call
>>
>>339743947
He kicks dust, which use the RNG, plus save-states. Its in his explanation for rng manipulation, he just doesnt out right say it.

He also has a video where he makes yoshi fall off the rooftop by manipulating rng, haha.

jesus fucking christ, with all this research and analysis for simple fucking glitch, you'd think he'd be hired by NASA or some shit by now
>>
>>339744765
Creating dust has a rng call, so it changes the rng value that the swing will have. The pendulum has two states so getting the right one has a 50% chance. The easiest way to get the results in the video is to randomly generate dust, then save after successfull swings and load after failed ones.

It's not really autism. If he has some sort of degree in mathematics, this is all fairly straightforward stuff. In fact, if you were a professional mathematician it would be pretty fun getting to figure all this stuff out.

I mean, it's not like this is likely some autistic manchild sitting in his basement writing formulas on the walls with his own shit.

If this is autism, then any artist or programmer who spends their spare time making mods or creating models is autism as well.

Now, maybe he is high-functioning autistic and that made it easier for him to git so gud at math and shit, but to me it just sounds like some guy in his 40's who played Mario 64 in college and years later discovered the speedrunning community and thought it'd be fun to figure this shit out.

Unless he's incredibly high functioning, it's a lot more likely that he's just brainy and goal-oriented. I'm not saying anyone is insulting him, I'm just pointing out that "autism" has become a catch-all for "someone who puts time into something I think is useless" here.

Putting time into pointless shit is a sign of autism.

>autism autism!
Yall just jealous you still need the A button.

Kill yourselves. His videos are genuinely fascinating.

>>339743226

Honestly this video is more insane and less interesting than the "parallel universe" one.

Figuring out how to abuse overflows to warp around the map is pretty clever, plus the thing about being able to gain arbitrarily large speed, that's pretty fun.

This time around he just spends time listing the pseudo-random behavior of a bunch of game assets in order to figure out if there's a way to find a certain sequence. A back of the envelope calculation should have told him that "no, that's definitely not doable" and yet he spent the time to model everything in Java and run the simulation for like 50 hours.

The other video was like 50/50 between autism and clever hacking, this one is 100% pure grass fed autism.

The dude does IT work, he's not rich by any means, I highly doubt he would even be hired by NASA or any good company.

Being able to guess how to force RNG in a well understood system like Mario64 is not hard. What's cool is his Java sim, or would be if you could tell that he's just translating the code into java while ignoring the game engine calls, which again is not hard at all.

Any junior in college with a few classes in java could easily have done this had they not been doing anything else that's actually important

Real talk, the dude probably isn't autistic, but he might have some form of OCD like Ulililia has, just not as severe to where he still can get into this shit but isn't a complete sperg when it comes to other stuff.

In short, he's trying to make a gear sit in place so he can abuse an exploit that causes mario to move REALLY FAST upwards, basically teleporting him up through the level, so he doesn't have to press A as many times (he's trying to eliminate all A presses)

However, this exploit relies on RNG being in his favor for a long time. The point of the video is that getting RNG to be in his favor for that long is not feasible. Maybe -technically- possible but so unlikely it's not worth pursuing.

>>
>>339744490
how does this work? how can he predict that they will be still that long in 52 years?? couldn't they theoretically be still that long 5 seconds from now since it's RNG, and just as well never stay still that long after no matter how many years?
>>
>>339768876
The implication is that there would be 12 frames of consecutive stillness every 52 years on average. They could happen five minutes apart potentially, but that's just incredibly unlikely.
>>
>>339768876
I think it's a probability thing. The more you ask for from the system, the more time it COULD take to find it.

Like, if the game kept running for 52 years, you are likely to get 1 12-frame block of gear stillness. It might not take that long, it's just odds.
>>
>>339768131
That's neat. I wish I had the brains to get that kind of fun out of things. No sarcasm I think it's genuinely cool.
>>
>>339763835
because the lack of context turns it into a piece of absurdist comedy
>>
>>339759049
Yeah, but eventually you're not going to be able to describe the year precisely.

At some point, our language/numeral system would adopt and we'd have a more dense form of writing things. We could easily adapt the Roman numerals to base-62, (0-9 + a-z + A-Z), although we'd probably throw in two more symbols (call them ! and ?) to make an even 64. You could write 0xFFFFFF -> 16777215 as ????, so it'd be dense than hex and far dense than decimal.

what? it would take 52 years for twelve 1/7 probabilities to happen consecutively? that doesn't seem right

Thanks for sharing this, man. I've been looking for some good YTPs that play around with what people say rather than simply playing something over and over 5 times in a row.
>>
>>339769272
>>339769138

I think that part is still from his simulation, so he does know that it would take exactly that long before the first twelve-frame RNG sequence shows up, because he literally simulated every RNG state in TTC that would happen in those 52 years. It's only once he gets to the 10^1101 kind of figures that he's begun extrapolating rather than simulating.
