Symmetra is ONLY useful for her teleporter, meaning that she's only good when defending the first point on defense. Once you have to fall back to the final point near your spawn, she no longer has use.
She is absolutely worthless on KOTH and on offense, and I STILL see people pick her on these modes. It's disgusting.

Zen is basically a walking ult who spams little pew-pew weapons in the meantime. Great in game modes where you have to capture or hold something for extended period, because being INVULNERABLE while making sure your team doesnt die around you is pretty damn powerful when you're capturing something.
Trick with Zen is to follow other characters who are tanky or otherwise soak up the damage for you. Funny thing is Zen works really well with D.va, he both gives D.Va health regen and makes it easier for D.Va to kill stuff, while D.va can just bodyblock most projectiles coming at Zenyatta.

I got a POTG as Zen once. It was me shooting balls at a Reinhardt shield then hopping on top of the payload and double headshotting a Hanzo who was about to ult.I also had the most eliminations on our team, we couldn't push the payload around the second corner on Dorado

This is actually true. Zen works well with D.va, Symmetra, and Torbjorn. D.va has loads of shield which heals slower, meaning Zen gets lots of ult build, on top of having her soak up damage for him, and Symmetra / Torbjorn keep him from dying to bodyshots.

Torb's problem isn't the character, but what he encourages; and that is turret humping when it's completely unnecessary for him to do so, since his gun is great and his turret takes only 5 seconds to upgrade and armor pickups basically act as health packs for him.

Only thing shit about Symmetra is her weapon range. Certain maps she can be a pain in the ass if she decides to hold some bottle-neck area with her turrets and her weapon. You cant get through without some huge aoe ulti. Well placed teleporter means you win the match no matter what. D.VA is incredibly useful for leading a push on a bastion / sentry. Shield and boost can be used at the same time to get right up in their face, then bullet it down. If you don't succeed, you even have a stronger pistol after being forced out of your mech.
I've had matches where it was a roll just because I was on the turret's ass all game, it gave my team a lot of breathing room to position and fight the rest of them off.
Then you can also force the enemy to fuck off at chokes with your really stupid ult, maybe even catch a person dumb enough to stick around.

It doesn't do anything to help balance if no one abuses broken characters. It'll never go away otherwise.
Playing a lot of Torb, Zen and D.Va I feel like all three require a bit more teamwork to function well. More teamwork than most other classes really.
D.Va doesn't kill very well on her own but is an excellent distraction with her chip damage and mobility. Sadly a lot of players just charge the point alone or in pairs because loltankclass but can't seal the deal. Also her ult is really easy to avoid.
Toblerones turret isn't really that strong by itself but is great when the enemy is preoccupied with somebody else, either a teammate or Toblerone himself. Problem is people just play him like a set-and-forget engineer.
Zenyatta is my favorite character in both design and function but he really needs teammates in front of him to get shit done. It's always those awful teams where everyone just trickles into the front line one or two at a time after they respawn rather than grouping up or pushing. Zen has decent healing and solid damage with Discord Orb being really fucking strong, assuming you have a team worth working with. Alone he's practically defenseless and can be melted by every other hero.
tl;dr they require more teamwork than other heroes and teamwork can be hard to find in soloqueue.

Any time I've had good matches with D.va is when I've played her like Reaper. That is, rush to the enemy flanks, and then constantly harass their healers, snipers and defenders. Difference to Reaper is she cant kill things as efficiently but she has super-safe escapes so she can keep harassing without dying for the whole match if necessary.

Hi anon, because you're illiterate and possibly Canadian I'll take a moment to explain that to you.
See, if you have about 10-15 hours in a hero and aren't braindead, you learned the class and can now play at about the same level as everyone else who's played it, which means every person playing a particular hero will be playing about the same as another person who picked that same here, because there is no way to play them markedly different than how Blizzard wants you to play.
Aiming is literally the highest skill ceiling mechanic in the game by far, and that's the way it will always be, which is not unique to any of the heroes.

This. Zen absolutely needs to pair up with someone who can bodyblock enemy shots for him. He doesnt have to be stuck to someone's ass as much as Mercy, but he's still effectively like Mercy, with the exception he can shoot enemies while he's healing and debuffing.

Why do so many people say that Torb's turrets don't hurt that much? Have you even been hit by one? They hit only slightly weaker than bastion and they notice you immediately.
You have no idea how cancerous a 3+ Torb defense team is. I went up against 4 Torb's + Bastion + McCree in Volskaya and we couldn't do a fucking thing. I tried being Pharah and the fucking SECOND you poke your head out to shoot it it takes literally half her health off. You have to aim all 3 rockets perfectly and during the exact moment when it's visable or you'll die from taking too much damage. And that fucker is always baby sitting it so as soon as you kill it he just builds another, or the other enemies help defend him and you're dead as a motherfucker.
I can see how just 1 torb is fine, maybe even weak, but if there's multiples or his team as even a handful of brain cells you might as well just leave the game .

D.Va is eh, Symmetra is only really good if the enemy is running a Rein with a bunch of flank classes, Torb seems to only really do well when there's two of them spitting out turrets and MOLTEN COAR-ing whenever there's a push, and even then it just slows the advance rather than stopping it.
However Zenyatta when played right is an amazing asset to a team. You play him when your team already has a "main" healer like Mercy or Lucio. Stick with the main bulk of the team and slap Orb of Discord on anyone who tries to confront your group, they'll melt like butter under that +50% damage taken debuff.

Find the right spots to stand out of range with an entire team between you, especially high up where some characters just plain cannot get to. Set up a mine too, a good distance away as more of a warning than anything.
And also grapple works on walls, not just ledges, and has an insane range. If anyone gets close you can grapple away faster than most character can chase, and assault rifle's honestly pretty strong too.
Really though, on some maps there just is literally nothing an enemy team can do about Widowmaker besides have their own Widowmaker.

People underestimate how strong Symmetra is on Attack. I have a higher winrate on that than Defend.
He turrets help sort of "lock down" your teams position, and prevents enemy flankers from doing their job. Even better if you put all six in the same small room and watch the eliminations pour in. Her strongest asset for attack though is her teleporter, because the attacking team always had the longer walk from their spawn and with it you can give your team nearly 100% uptime, especially during the last checkpoint on payload maps to keep the pressure on and that can usually lead to a win.
I think also how effective she is is based heavily on the enemy team composition. There are some matches where she just feels almost like half a character and you wonder why the hell you're even playing her.

Symmetra is my main support and I try to be useful with her. Even the best player will still perform below average compared to the other supports.
The turrets do fuck all damage and it takes like 5 hours of uptime in order to get a decent amount of them going. Overwatch is a game of constant deaths though so good luck with that happening unless you're in the back and manage to avoid flankers the whole game.
The shield is completely useless. Teleporter is mainly useless. I don't care how many turrets you have a a flanker can just strafe around a corner 10 times and your whole teleporter and turrets are destroyed.

Torborjn and Zen are both good to god tier depending on the player. I get at least three or four kills per molten core.
And zenyatta's ult allows for pushes more than any other in the game. If you can get a team into position and then rush the objective while he ults no one on your team will even die. Next to Lucio he is the best healer since he can both heal for about the same amount the same amount as mercy from ridiculous long range and do insane burst damage and debuff the important targets. Torbjorn's turret is more a support weapon to draw fire and add DPS to players paying attention to you. You should always be withing firing range of the turret and the turret should always be able to fire at both the chokepoint and the capture point. Nah, Bliz explicitly said that they weren't gonna change the stun because that's what gives him most of his 1v1 power, and they designed him as a 1v1 master.
They did say Fan's getting the nerf because the fact that he can pump out 840 damage in <2 sec is a bit OP. (Each fan does 420 if all 6 hit, and he can just fan-roll-fan before people recover enough from the flash). They also mentioned him doing that and insta-killing tanks, esp. Zarya, was not good.
