That might just be good matchmaking - matching you with people of equal skill rather than equal playtime.
Of course the forced 50% win rate works both ways. Not only will it stick you with people significantly worse than you to ensure you lose ~50%, but it will also stick you with significantly better people to ensure that you win ~50%. So it might just be that it's trying to make them lose/you win.

Going of how it works in Dota:
1. Everyone is actually equally skilled
2. But somebody makes very poor decisions in terms of heroes, and what items to get
3. Some pick the right heroes and right items, but play the wrong role
