>let's make Chrono Trigger into a movie!
>instead of making a third game
This is why Square is dead.
CT has no chance because it never sold a million+. This is the era of 100+m sales barely meaning jack shit.

>Let's make a third game!
>when the sequel was garbage and the branch-off game was Japan onry
This is why gaming is dead.

Chrono Trigger sold 2 million + 1 million on PS1 + 1 million on DS. Chrono Cross sold 1.5 million.
But you're right. SquareEnix won't greenlight another one because they only greenlight games that sell 4+ million copies. Unless its a Final Fantasy spin off and then it doesn't matter if it sells 300k. It'll be considered good.

Why do people want Square fucking ENIX to make sequels to or remakes of Square games?

It's like you didn't even read it.

Chrono Trigger was a collaberation between the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest teams. They are now merged into one company. Making a new Chrono game should have been the first thing they did. But instead they waited so long, now most of the original team is gone. But they still have the main developers like Horii, Kato, Tokita and Kitase working at the combined company. And should attempt to make a new game. If they really thought they needed the team from Monolithsoft, they could hire them as well. And probably make it a Nintendo NX title. Then two years later port it to PS4 and PC.

Good things should never be expected, would either never be released, canceled close to completion, or just be shit.
Wonder what they would even do story wise.

Its Square. The story would be exactly the same. Only change would be a graphical upgrade. Which sadly, that's all Square fans want. See the Resurrection project.

The Enix side has made some of the best remakes in gaming history. Square, not so much. If Armor Project handled the remake, I'm sure it would turn out good. But they won't do it since Chrono Trigger is one of the few games that doesn't need a remake.
If they did they did remake it though they would probably do what they did for FF7Nand make a new battle system, which I can't imagine people would want.

Enix has never made a single game because they aren't devs, they were only publishers.
Fuck a remake. Fuck a cluttered and unnecessarily confusing plot in a "sequel." Give me a proper sequel to Chrono Trigger and I'll be happy.
I just finished playing Chrono Trigger for the first time in nearly 15 years. I missed so much of it when I was younger, and it was like a fresh, new experience. What do you guys think about Crimson Echoes? I'm worried it will ruin the experience, but I felt so much more could have been done in the Chrono Trigger storyline before (or even ignoring) Chrono Cross.

Hence why I named Armor Project.
