My taste cater a bit more towards stuff like DMC or Ninja Gaiden but I'm up for anything with rock solid mechanics, challenging gameplay, and enemy variety. Basically heavy combat polish where every attack you have has a use rather than simply being flashy. Will I like Senran Kagura primarily with combat system in mind or is it mostly the overall package that draws people to it?

Sengoku BASARA, and Pirate Warriors 3 probably have the most "depth" of any musou game. Senran Kagura is even more brain dead than most musou games so I'd highly recommend ignoring the series entirely if you're not buying it for the characters or fanservice.

The combat can get pretty deep depending on the character you're playing and your level.

It is fun, however it's also strapped for variety. Even though all the characters play differently, the gameplay itself is largely the same and the combos are pretty brainless.
