I like the concept of Parasol as a defensive power. I wish they'd give back the crouching shield it had in Dream Land 3.

I don't know. Something about it still has this sort of mystical comfiness to it that the Dark Matter games really had going for them. As far as Kirby final stretch songs go, it's definitely somewhere in the comfier range.

From a DK side of things, K. Rool ended up in a better position than before. Most fans took the costume as acknowledgement, and the Bring Back K. Rool campaign got a massive following on Twitter and Facebook from Smash. Even some employees from Retro liked the Facebook page.
The situation with K. Rool is almost comparable to Kirby and Dark Matter if you look at it from a distance.

What is it about Dreamland 3 that feels so... Melancholic?
The graphics are light and simple, the characters are cute and cuddly, the music generally ranges from chipper to soothing... But under it all there's this deep, underlying gloom and sadness I can feel throughout the whole thing, it's eerie and sombre while appearing outwardly soft and sweet. Does anyone else feel that, or is it just me?

I think King Dedede was made too big and monstrous in Smash Bros. Sure he's big, strong, and heavy, but he's not massive. He should be a head smaller than Samus, and I'm pretty sure Dark Matter is plenty bigger than him, even as a swordsman.

what probably happens is the game is set so that if an entity gets "stuck" in a wall or another entity, it pushes the entity in the opposite direction that its facing (you can see this effect in a lot of retro games, SMB, SMW, and the genesis Sonic titles come to mind)
For some reason, the game thinks the waddle doo is still making contact with kirby so it forces it outwards, since the game never recognizes that the waddle doo entity isn't trapped inside kirby, it keeps pushing it in the opposite direction, thats why it appears to walk backwards
