I actually liked DA2 and DA:I but the tonal shift, the art shift, the focus on characters and their stories rather than plot and the lack of that X factor that Origins had is mad disappointing.
Origins felt like it mattered. The Blight was scary as fuck and it was coming and you decided how to fight it.
I think they've went too far with it now to salvage. If people don't have their precious world states imported with their 'canon' love interest they'll bitch and moan.
And also, the fanbase is my least favourite of any AAA game. They are pure cancer with 'headcanon' and 'shipping' to a complete fault.

Dragon age 2 really should have just been an expansion to Origins, that way they could have got rid of the unnecessary filler content like repetitive environments and repetitive enemy hordes, and some poor textured models, and offered a decent alternative atmosphere tier expansion.
Because not all of 2 was bad, there were some very memorable and interesting moments and characters.

What they should have done was introduce Meredith in the first act as a friendly character, showed her slowly getting more anti mage during act 2 as the mage situation gets worse before going full villain in act 3.

Just because he wasn't an asshole doesn't mean he wasn't evil.
He's one of the men responsible for the darkspawn existing in the first place. His efforts are to ensure darkspawn supremacy, with peace being the convenient option. He's made it clear though that he's willing to exterminate all untainted life if it seems like the best option.
Even if you don't hold him responsible for creating the darkspawn just because he doesn't remember doing it, and excuse him for causing the blight because he didn't intend to, you have to realize that he would do both of those things again if he could. He is every bit as cruel, evil and corrupt as every other darkspawn, except instead of being nearly mindless, he's intelligent and capable of rational thought. He can learn and be accountable for his actions, and he should be held accountable for his actions.
He is probably one of the most plainly evil villains in Dragon Age. Loghain was a fucking saint in comparison.

Jaina didn't realize he was right, she was in a frothing rage about Garrosh bombing her city, and infused with arcane magic from the bombing which caused her to think differently. She came to her senses after realizing that she was definitely not about to send a whole tidal wave toward Orgrimaar to eliminate the orcs home. She had already seen many horrors such as Arthas and wasn't about to be the same. She just realized that they needed to take garrosh out of power before he went too far. Also she left her opportunity of eliminating the orcs by becoming the leader of the Kirin tor, leaving her mostly neutral. Definitely not on the same side as him.
