If you only save your ultimate for the perfect moment, you could have worked your way up to 2 more ultimates in the time you spent saving your ultimate. I've stopped being frugal about my ults because sometimes a perfect opportunity doesn't arrive and quantity of ults ends up being greater than quality of ults. For instance as mercy, ya, I could wait for 2 teammates to die before I use my ult, but most of the time it's better to just use the ult on a single teammate, because by the time your teammates die again, you'll likely have already charged up to your next ult.
You're assuming that the rest of the team was grouped up and could all be shot together with the ult. At that stage of the game everyone was spread out and defending the point. 1 ult on both teams was used and I got 1 dead enemy out of it, so any way you look at it it's a positive outcome.

To get one shotted like that you have to get hooked, if you aren't careful and try to take potshots at a 600hp tank IN HIS RANGE, you deserve to be hooked, and even after that - he will have to land a good shot on a small hitbox with the shotgun and land the melee hit.

Bastion is far from the easiest. He is only good locking down a hallway and clearing the cart/point every 3 mins; doing anything else require knowledge of enemy comp weaknesses and map positioning- lest you end up being killed everytime you go into turret mode.

The problem is that even while 6 enemies rail on a roadhog the 5 on my team still just stand back and take safe shots instead of obiliterating the fucks while they are busy with the dangerous self healing meatbag.
He is a tank because enemies will always focus on him above you, he cannot be ignored because he'll hook your ass.
Make yourself useful and kill the enemies in a full attack instead of hoping your "tank" just "survives".
