Damn all this compression

I got them from here btw: http://franchise.civilization.com/en/games/civilization-vi/
>>
Looks a bit too cartoony for my taste and it will probably be barebones on release date just like 4 and 5. Might be good after a year or two after the release though.
>>
This new Terra Incognita Fog of War shit they've added is absolutely terrible. I get the AESTHETICS appeal and perhaps it'd make it so that worse hardware can run the game, but hopefully there's an option to change it to Civ V style and not this ugly bullshit they have now.
>>
>>339639106
I like it
>>
I hope they make largest possible maps bigger.
If they don't, with multi tile cities, it would mean that late game True Start game would have countries like Germany and France be comprised of single city, two at best.
>>
JUST CHANGE THE FUCKING GRASS TEXTURES AND IT WOULD LOOK FINE JESUS CHRIST IT LOOKS LIKE SHIT
>>
>>339639106
>>339639254
me too.
Also I like the cliffs protecting your coast against invasion. I wonder if we can build ships even with a city next to a cliff.
>>
looks a lot better zoomed out, which is probably how you'll end up playing it

still not going to but it until all the dlcs and patches are released

i hope sullla does a write up where the shits all over the game, those were the best parts of vanilla civ v
>>
Will the maps themselves be bigger or what
>>
>>339639326
There will be a 64-bit client (and multithreaded AI) so I assume there will be support for much bigger maps
>>
>>339639576
With unit movement speed apparently unchanged it seems like it'll be incredibly tedious.
>>
>>339639471

What do you mean? You could make the maps massive in the last game and populate them with as many or as few people as you wanted.
>>
>>339639337
This plus making the tree density higher for forest and jungle tiles
>>
>>339639852
Scratch that, units move even slower than before.
>>
>>339638307
what the fuck is wrong with the water?
>>
I like the look.

I can understand people wanting it to see more realistic, which is totally fine, but I've always enjoyed the more cartoony, colorful look in games.

Holds up better over time for one thing, where the current hyper realism doesn't hold up in just a few years.

I haven't dug into 5 much still, last I played a ton of was 4.

Should probably get on that.
>>
I like how uninhabited areas are washed out
>>
>>339638307
while I don't really care for the cartoony style it looks pretty clean when zoomed out like that
>>
>>339639975

AI will always be retarded compared to a human.

They've removed the flavors and added actual leader agendas though, so I'm hopeful they'll at least appear competent.
>>
>>339642521
Retarded AI will always be a problem in video games. Why do people still expect human-level intelligence in so many games?
>>
>>339642521
They said the AI is gonna be multithreaded this time around, and that their goals will be more clear

They're adding AI "agendas" that are unique to a certain leader. For example, Teddy Roosevelt will amass a big army and destroy anyone who warmongers on his continent. Cleopatra will ally herself with leaders that have big armies, or declare war on leaders that have small armies.
>>
any way to make map in civ5 even bigger that biggest standard? like 5-10 times bigger?
>>
>>339642056
first off one city challenge is meant to be a challenge

second going tall is absurdly good in this game, wide play is situational and tall play can be good on almost any start, 3-4 city tradition is the most consistent way to win games
>>
>>339642578
Hexagons are objectively superior to squares
squares are either 8 movement, in which case diagonal movement is superior to lateral movement always (moving two squares at the same time instead of 1) which just feels wrong, or they're 4 movement at which point hexes have more

on top of that hexes look more organic
>>
>>339642578
Hex is life. Deal with it faggot
>>
>>339642521
the ai isn't THAT retarded, the way that elizabeth or alexander manage to have distinct flavours to them is pretty well done in civ v
>>
>>339639387

i actually like that. it did bug me that literally any tile bordering on the ocean was suddenly suitable to host a seaport
>>
>>339642763
honestly if they make wide the baseline instead of tall I couldn't be more happy
just having 4 to 6 massive cities is boring, to many games in V where even lategame borders barely met
>>
>>339642630
Considering how we have computers that win against human chess champions, it's not unreasonable to expect a Civ AI that try to capture a city with no siege units.

New perk for America: Right to bear arms

-Workers cannot be captured inside friendly territory.

-Workers function as a weaker military unit when attacked in friendly territory. Workers cannot build if they have lost 35% HP . Workers cannot attack other units, only defend.

*To not spam workers, workers cost as many hammers as a contemporary land unit would when at war.
*Workers cost an additional +2 GPT to maintain during war as to not spam workers before war starts. Workers actively building cost only +1 GPT in times of war..

The fact that "Square Deal" is bolded leads me to believe that that is what America's UA will be called. Wish we actually knew what it would do in-game though.

Also it seems each Civ will have three Uniques rather than two.

I like that, one unique building/improvement and two units. It might make carthage good. jk they will enver be good both their units are garbage

>Square Deal
His policies reflected three basic ideas: conservation of natural resources, control of corporations, and consumer protection.[2] These three demands are often referred to as the "three C's" of Roosevelt's Square Deal. Thus, it aimed at helping middle class citizens and involved attacking plutocracy and bad trusts while at the same time protecting business from the most extreme demands of organized labor.

So economic focus

All you use triremes for is scouting and maybe capturing a coastal city. The quinqueirmeameieme doesn't have anything going for it other than slightly more strength which is irrelevant since you usually only slam melee units into cities when they are super low health to capture them

You use horsemen for capturing cities too, since they can zoom across the map, and getting close to range units to attack them. The elephant costs more hammers and has less movement, so it doesn't do what the horsemen does as well. For instance moving onto forested hill uses all its movement instead of leaving it with one left.
>>
>>339649692
I like this. I was always too lazy to manually control my workers, so they would always just go on auto. They just fucking loved unnecessary roads. One game I had all coastal cities with harbors, and I couldn't stop them from spamming roads every turn.

back in Civ 1 Gandhi had an aggression level of 1, which was the lowest it could go, 10 being the highest. When Gandhi learned Democracy and switched to it, his aggression goes down by 1 point.

Also I just can't stand their insular city bullshit anymore. Not being able to properly share food, production, etc between cities is retarded.
>>

I used to be a 4fag. I still think it has far better AI than 5 and mechanics that the AI can more easily use, but I would still probably agree that 5 complete is best civ now.

Besides, Soren moved on and made Offworld Trading Company which is the greatest RTS.
>>

There's two types of fog
Fog that you haven't explored (which would be clouds in Civ 5 and empty map parchment in Civ 6)

It's a running joke in the development team. In civilization 1, there was a bug where Gandhi's aggression level was originally set to 1, with 10 being the highest. After reaching Democracy and switching to it, his aggression goes down by 1 point, which set set his aggression level to 255.

>>
>>339658920
Honestly I have a hard time distinguishing between fogged and non-fogged areas in the original. If you look at it in an image editor the values and saturation for the fogged area are almost identical to the nonfogged; the only difference is the yellowish hue. Hell I just now realized that I completely missed the nonfogged area in the upper right corner. That's how indistinguishable they are.

For an artstyle that claims to be about readability it leaves a lot to be desired, the tree density being another issue frequently brought up.
